An apparatus for measuring vital functions relating to the health of a patient, the device comprising at least a measuring chair (20) or a corresponding means suitable for sitting, which measuring chair further comprises one or more measuring sensors (2, 3, 6, 7) for measuring one or more vital functions of the patient in a non-invasive manner from the outside of the patient'"'"'s body, characterized in that said one or more measuring sensors (2, 3, 6, 7) are placed in the structures of the measuring chair (20) in a substantially unnoticeable manner, and that the measuring chair (20) is designed to resemble an ordinary chair intended for non-medical use, or a corresponding furniture-like means suitable for sitting.
