Abstract

Method and system for a satellite network data communication enabled electronic bookmarking device for bookmarking positional information of a desired location or locations in addition to bookmarking broadcast music clips over registered radio or television stations is provided.

Claims

12. The device of claim I wherein said controller is configured to control said input/output interface unit transmit said position data, and in accordance thereto, receive corresponding information related to said position data.

13. The device of claim 12 wherein said received information includes one or more of a location name, a location address, a location contact information, and a location transaction history.

14. The device of claim 12 further including a gateway terminal configured to connect to said device for data communication.

15. The device of claim 14 wherein said gateway terminal includes one of a personal computer terminal, a server terminal, a internet-enabled personal digital assistant, an internet-enabled mobile telephone, and a handheld device configured for internet access.

16. The device of claim 14 wherein said connection between said gateway terminal and said device includes one of a USB port connection, IEEE 1394 port connection, an IrDA port connection, and a Bluetooth-enabled port connection.

17. A method, comprising:

operating an input unit of a data marking device;

receiving a location identification;

receiving a position data; and

generating a position mark corresponding to said input unit operation.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein said position data includes a longitudinal information and a latitudinal information.

19. The method of claim 17 further including storing said location identification, said position data, and said position mark.

20. The method of claim 19 further including

transmitting one or more of said position mark, said location identification and said position data;

and

receiving location data corresponding to said location identification.

21. The method of claim 20 wherein said received location data includes one or more of a location name, a location address, a location contact information and a location transaction history.

22. The method of claim 20 further including displaying said location data.

23. The method of claim 20 further including resetting said data marking device.

24. The method of claim 23 wherein said resetting step includes deleting said stored location identification, said position data and said position mark.

25. The method of claim 17 further including displaying said position mark.

26. A method, comprising;

receiving one or more of a data marking device identification code, a position mark, a location identification and a position data;

retrieving a location data corresponding to said identification code; and

transmitting said retrieved location data.

27. The method of claim 26 further including storing said data marking device identification code, said position mark, said location identification and said position data.

28. The method of claim 27 further including updating said stored data marking device identification code, said stored position mark, said stored location identification and said stored position data.

29. The method of claim 26 wherein said location data includes one or more of a location name, a location address, a location contact information and a location transaction history corresponding to said data marking device identification code.

30. The method of claim 26 further including connecting to a data marking device corresponding to said data marking device identification code.

31. The method of claim 30 wherein said connecting step includes establishing a connection using one of a IrDA connection protocol, a USB connection protocol, a IEEE 1394 connection protocol, and a Bluetooth connection protocol.

32. A satellite network enabled position marking system, comprising;

a satellite network;

a location including configured to communicate with said satellite network;

a data marking device configured to communicate with said satellite network to receive a position data, said data marking device further configured to receive a location identification code from said location; and

a server terminal configured to communicate with said satellite network and said data marking device, said server terminal further configured to receive said position data and said identification code from said data marking device and accordingly, to transmit location information to said data marking device.

1. An electronic data marker device, comprising:

a controller;

a memory coupled to the controller configured to store data; and

an input/output interface unit coupled to the controller, the input/output interface configured to transmit a signal and in response thereto, receive a position data.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein said data stored in said memory includes said position data.

3. The device of claim 1 wherein said data stored in said memory includes a device identification code.

4. The device of claim 1 wherein said received position data includes a longitude data and a latitude data.

5. The device of claim 1 wherein said input/output interface unit includes a transceiver configured to communicate with a satellite network.

6. The device of claim 5 wherein said satellite network includes a Global Positioning System.

7. The device of claim 1 further including an input unit, said controller configured to transmit a control signal to said input/output interface when said input unit is operated such that said input/output interface unit transmits said position signal in response to the operation of said input unit.

8. The device of claim 1 further including a display unit configured to display said received position data.

9. The device of claim 1 wherein said position data includes a location identification received from a location.

10. The device of claim 9 wherein said location identification includes a data string including a predetermined length letter and/or number combination.

11. The device of claim 9 wherein said location identification is stored in said memory.

33. The system of claim 32 wherein said satellite network includes a Global Positioning System.

34. The system of claim 32 wherein said location includes an interface unit configured to communicate with said satellite network and said data marking device.

35. The system of claim 32 wherein said data marking device includes an input unit, said data marking device configured to receive said location identification code in response to an operation of said input unit.

36. The system of claim 35 wherein said data marking device includes a display unit for displaying a position mark corresponding to said received location identification code.

37. The system of claim 32 wherein said data marking device includes a device identification code stored in a memory.

38. The system of claim 37 wherein said data marking device is configured to transmit said device identification code to said server terminal.

39. The system of claim 32 wherein said server terminal includes a storage unit for storing said received position data, said location identification code and said location information.
