Abstract

A method, system, and program for sampling responses to communication content for use in analyzing reaction responses to other communications are provided. Responses specified by a user to varying portions of the content of a communication are gathered. These specified responses are then stored in a database according to the types of content responded to, wherein the stored responses are then accessible for use in determining reaction responses by the user in another communication comprising at least one of the types of content. In particular, the communication may include sample content to which a response is requested. Further, the communication may include a proposed communication or a transmitted communication.

Claims

1. A method for gathering responses to communication content, comprising:

gathering responses specified by a user to varying portions of the content of a communication; and

storing, in a database, said responses specified by said user to said varying portions of said content of said communication, wherein said stored responses are then accessible from said database for use in determining reaction responses by said user in another communication comprising at least one of said varying portions of said content.

2. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, further comprising:

comparing varying portions of content of said another communication with said specified responses stored in said database; and

identifying a particular reaction response associated with each of said varying portions of said content for said user to said another communication according to said stored responses.

3. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 2, further comprising:

indicating, during a display of said content of said another communication, any one of said varying portions in a displayable attribute associated with said particular reaction response.

The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 2, wherein said particular reaction response comprises at least one from among an anticipated response of an intended recipient of said communication, an intended response of a sender of said communication, and an actual response of said intended recipient to said communication.

5. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, wherein storing said responses further comprises:

cataloguing said specified responses in at least one component database of a reactions database.

The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 5, wherein said at least one component database of said reactions database comprises at least one from among an individual response database, a regional response database, a National Language Support response database, a business response database, and a characteristics response database.

7. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, wherein said responses specified by said user are intended responses to said varying portions of said content of said communication.

8. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, wherein said responses specified by said user are actual responses to said varying portions of said content of said communication.

9. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, wherein said communication is at least one of a proposed communication, a transmitted communication, and a sample content-based communication.

10. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, wherein said communication is at least one from among a document, an electronic communication, a voice communication, a video communication, and a graphical communication.

11. The method for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 1, wherein said specified responses are detected automatically using sensors measuring biometric feedback of said user as said user reads said communication.

12. A system for gathering responses to communication content, comprising:

a computing system communicatively connected to a network;

said computing system further comprising;

means for gathering responses specified by a user to varying portions of the content of a communication; and

means for storing, in a database, said responses specified by said user to said varying portions of said content of said communication, wherein said stored responses are then accessible from said database for use in determining reaction responses by said user in another communication comprising at least one of said varying portions of said content.

13. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 12, further comprising:

means for comparing varying portions of content of said another communication with said specified responses stored in said database; and

means for identifying a particular reaction response associated with each of said varying portions of said content for said user to said another communication according to said stored responses.

14. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 13, further comprising:

means for indicating, during a display of said content of said another communication, any one of said varying portions in a displayable attribute associated with said particular reaction response.

15. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 13, further comprising:

means for displaying said particular reaction response comprising at least one from among an anticipated response of an intended recipient of said communication, an intended response of a sender of said communication, and an actual response of said intended recipient to said communication.

16. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 12, wherein storing said responses further comprises:

means for cataloguing said specified responses in at least one component database of a reactions database.

17. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 16, further comprising:

means for storing said specified responses in at least one component database comprising at least one from among an individual response database, a regional response database, a National Language Support response database, a business response database, and a characteristics response database.

18. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 12, wherein said communication is at least one of a proposed communication, a transmitted communication, and a sample content-based communication.

19. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 12, wherein said communication is at least one from among a document, an electronic communication, a voice communication, a video communication, and a graphical communication.

20. The system for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 12, further comprising:

means for detecting said specified responses automatically using sensors measuring biometric feedback of said user as said user reads said communication.

30. The method for sampling responses to communication content according to claim 12, wherein said sample content comprises at least one of a survey, a poll, an advertisement, a document, and a pamphlet.

21. A computer program product for gathering responses to communication content, comprising:

a recording medium;

means, recorded on said recording medium, for gathering responses specified by a user to varying portions of the content of a communication; and

means, recorded on said recording medium, for storing, in a database, said responses specified by said user to said varying portions of said content of said communication, wherein said stored responses are then accessible from said database for use in determining reaction responses by said user in another communication comprising at least one of said varying portions of said content.

22. The computer program product for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 21, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for comparing varying portions of content of said another communication with said specified responses stored in said database; and

means, recorded on said recording medium, for identifying a particular reaction response associated with each of said varying portions of said content for said user to said another communication according to said stored responses.

23. The computer program product for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 22, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for indicating, during a display of said content of said another communication, any one of said varying portions in a displayable attribute associated with said particular reaction response.

24. The computer program product for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 22, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for displaying said particular reaction response comprising at least one from among an anticipated response of an intended recipient of said communication, an intended response of a sender of said communication, and an actual response of said intended recipient to said communication.

25. The computer program product for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 21, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for cataloguing said specified responses in at least one component database of a reactions database.

26. The computer program product for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 25, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for storing said specified responses in at least one component database comprising at least one from among an individual response database, a regional response database, a National Language Support response database, a business response database, and a characteristics response database.

27. The computer program product for gathering responses to communication content according to claim 21, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for detecting said specified responses automatically using sensors measuring biometric feedback of said user as said user reads said communication.

28. A method for sampling responses to communication content, comprising:

presenting sample content designed to elicit a response to at least one type of content to a user;

receiving at least one response to said at least one type of content from said user; and

storing, in a database, said at least one response to said at least one type of content for said user, wherein said at least one response is then accessible to determine a reaction response by said user to another communication comprising said at least one type of content.

29. The method for sampling responses to communication content according to claim 28, wherein said sample content comprises at least one of text, an icon, a video image, a graphical image, a sound, and an avatar gesturing.

31. A system for sampling responses to communication content, comprising:

a computing system communicatively connected to a network;

said computing system further comprising;

means for presenting sample content designed to elicit a response to at least one type of content to a user;

means for receiving at least one response to said at least one type of content from said user; and

means for storing, in a database, said at least one response to said at least one type of content for said user, wherein said at least one response is then accessible to determine a reaction response by said user to another communication comprising said at least one type of content.

32. The system for sampling responses to communication content according to claim 31, wherein said sample content comprises at least one of text, an icon, a video image, a graphical image, a sound, and an avatar gesturing.

33. The system for sampling responses to communication content according to claim 31, wherein said sample content comprises at least one of a survey, a poll, an advertisement, a document, and a pamphlet.

34. A computer program product for sampling responses to communication content, comprising:

a recording medium;

means, recorded on said recording medium, for presenting sample content designed to elicit a response to at least one type of content to a user;

means, recorded on said recording medium, for receiving at least one response to said at least one type of content from said user; and

means, recorded on said recording medium, for storing, in a database, said at least one response to said at least one type of content for said user, wherein said at least one response is then accessible to determine a reaction response by said user to another communication comprising said at least one type of content.

35. A method for selecting recipients of a communication, comprising:

analyzing a communication to determine anticipated responses by a plurality of potential recipients to varying portions of the content of said communication; and

designating a selection of recipients from among said plurality of potential recipients whose anticipated responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication are congruent with intended responses designated for said varying portions of the content of said communication.

36. The method for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 35, wherein analyzing a communication further comprises:

filtering said varying portions of the content of said communication through a database of reaction responses to varying types of content gathered from previous communications of said plurality of potential recipients.

37. The method for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 36, wherein said previous communications comprise at least one of proposed communications, transmitted communication, and sample content-based communications.

38. The method for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 35, wherein said varying portions of the content of said communication comprise sample content.

39. The method for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 35, further comprising:

distributing said communication to said designated selection of recipients;

gathering actual responses by said selection of recipients to said varying portions of the content of said communication; and

comparing said actual responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication with said intended responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication to determine whether said communication actually achieved an intended response.

40. A system for selecting recipients of a communication, comprising:

a computing system communicatively connected to a network;

said computing system further comprising;

means for analyzing a communication to determine anticipated responses by a plurality of potential recipients to varying portions of the content of said communication; and

means for designating a selection of recipients from among said plurality of potential recipients whose anticipated responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication are congruent with intended responses designated for said varying portions of the content of said communication.

41. The system for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 40, wherein analyzing a communication further comprises:

means for filtering said varying portions of the content of said communication through a database of reaction responses to varying types of content gathered from previous communications of said plurality of potential recipients.

42. The system for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 40, further comprising:

means for distributing said communication to said designated selection of recipients;

means for gathering actual responses by said selection of recipients to said varying portions of the content of said communication; and

means for comparing said actual responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication with said intended responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication to determine whether said communication actually achieved an intended response.

43. A computer program product for selecting recipients of a communication, comprising:

a recording medium;

means, recorded on said recording medium, for analyzing a communication to determine anticipated responses by a plurality of potential recipients to varying portions of the content of said communication; and

means, recorded on said recording medium, for designating a selection of recipients from among said plurality of potential recipients whose anticipated responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication are congruent with intended responses designated for said varying portions of the content of said communication.

44. The computer program product for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 43, wherein analyzing a communication further comprises:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for filtering said varying portions of the content of said communication through a database of reaction responses to varying types of content gathered from previous communications of said plurality of potential recipients.

45. The computer program product for selecting recipients of a communication according to claim 43, further comprising:

means, recorded on said recording medium, for distributing said communication to said designated selection of recipients;

means, recorded on said recording medium, for gathering actual responses by said selection of recipients to said varying portions of the content of said communication; and

means, recorded on said recording medium, for comparing said actual responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication with said intended responses to said varying portions of the content of said communication to determine whether said communication actually achieved an intended response.
