1. A method of controlling transmitted power in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- determining velocity of a wireless communication device in relation to a device located in a wireless network infrastructure;
determining the power level of a communication system signal transmitted over a wireless channel between the wireless communication device and the device located in the infrastructure;
determining adjustments to the transmit power of the communication system signal based on the determined velocity of the wireless communication device; and
providing the transmit power level adjustments to a transmitter of the received signals.

Abstract
A method and apparatus are provided for determining adjustments to be made to a transmitter based on the velocity or location of a wireless communication device in relation to a wireless network infrastructure. The transmitter to be adjusted can be located in either the wireless communication device, or in a device in the wireless communication infrastructure, or both.
