Abstract

A radiating member, an illuminating device, an electro-optical device, and an electronic device are provided which are capable of absorbing the heat generated from an LED, thereby increasing the amount of electric current flowable through the LED. More particularly, there are provided a point light source, a light guide plate for receiving the light radiated from the point light source, and a radiating plate including an adhesive layer formed to contact the point light source, and a metal layer formed over the adhesive layer and made of the material having a thermal conductivity (λ) equal to or greater than 90 W/mK at room temperature.

Claims

1. A radiating member contacting a point light source, the radiating member comprising:

an adhesive layer contacting said point light source; and

a radiating layer connected to said point light source by said adhesive layer.

2. The radiating member of claim 1 wherein said radiating layer further comprises a metal layer.

3. The radiating member of claim 1 wherein said radiating layer further comprises a carbon graphite layer.

4. The radiating member of claim 1 wherein said radiating layer further comprises

a layer made of a material having a thermal conductivity (λ

) equal to or greater than 90 W/mK at room temperature.

5. An illuminating device comprising:

a point light source;

a light guide plate receiving light radiated from said point light source;

a substrate having said point light source mounted thereon; and

a Peltier element installed on said substrate.

6. An illuminating device comprising:

a point light source;

a light guide plate receiving light radiated from said point light source; and

a radiating member contacting said point light source.

7. The illuminating device according to claim 6, wherein said radiating member is shaped like a sheet and comprises a material having a thermal conductivity (λ

) equal to or greater than 90 W/mK at room temperature.

8. The illuminating device according to claim 6, wherein said point light source comprises a light-emitting diode.

9. An electro-optical device comprising:

an electro-optical panel; and

the illuminating device described in claim 6, and disposed adjacent to said electro-optical panel.

10. An electro-optical device comprising:

an electro-optical panel; and

said illuminating device described in claim 6, and disposed adjacent to said electro-optical panel,

wherein the light-emitting side of said light guide plate emits light towards the bottom side of said electro-optical panel, and

wherein said substrate is disposed between said electro-optical panel and said light guide plate, and

wherein said radiating member is shaped like a sheet, and is partially and two-dimensionally overlapped with the opposite side of said light-emitting side of said light guide plate.

11. An electro-optical device comprising:

an electro-optical panel; and

said illuminating device described in claim 6, and disposed adjacent to said electro-optical panel,

wherein said radiating member is shaped like a sheet, and is disposed in contact with said electro-optical panel, and

wherein said point light source is mounted on said radiating member.

12. An electro-optical device comprising:

an electro-optical panel; and

said illuminating device described in claim 6, and disposed adjacent to said electro-optical panel,

wherein said electro-optical device further comprises;

a substrate shaped like a flexible sheet, and having said point light source mounted thereon, and

wherein mounted components for driving said electro-optical panel are mounted on said substrate, and said substrate is electrically connected with said electro-optical panel.

13. The electro-optical device according to claim 10, further comprising:

a light-shielding sheet shaped like a frame, and disposed between said electro-optical panel and said light guide plate, and

wherein said electro-optical panel includes a driving region driven by a supplied potential, and

wherein an opening of said light-shielding sheet includes said driving region, and

wherein the reflectivity on said light guide plate-side of said light-shielding sheet is higher than that on said electro-optical panel-side of said light-shielding sheet.

14. The electro-optical device according to claim 13, wherein said substrate overlaps said light-shielding sheet.

15. The electro-optical device according to claim 13, wherein said substrate does not overlap said light-shielding sheet.

16. The electro-optical device according to claim 11, wherein said electro-optical panel includes a driving region driven by a supplied potential, and

wherein said radiating plate has light-shielding properties, and is disposed on a region other than said driving region of said electro-optical panel.
