Abstract

Systems and methods for providing interoperability of systems are provided. One embodiment may be seen as instantiating a server in a container having instances of Enterprise Java™ Beans (EJB), and accessing the EJB through the local interface of the EJB. Since the EJB is accessed from within the container, the need for translation of messaging protocols at a bridge is removed. The server components are provided access to the EJB logic through the local interface of the EJB.

Claims

1. In a distributed network compatible with both Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and Java™

2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), a method comprising;

instantiating a CORBA server within an Enterprise Java™

Bean (EJB) container; and

accessing a local interface of the EJB from the instantiated CORBA server.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

instantiating a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

instantiating all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

4. A method for providing interoperability comprising:

instantiating a server within an Enterprise Java™

Bean (EJB) container; and

accessing a local interface of the EJB from the instantiated server.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

instantiating a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

instantiating all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

7. The method of claim 4, wherein the instantiating the server comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server within the EJB container.

8. The method of claim 4, wherein the instantiating the server comprises:

instantiating server components in response to a request.

9. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving a request;

executing the request at the EJB to generate a result; and

returning the result.

10. A method for providing interoperability comprising:

instantiating a business-logic component within a container;

instantiating a server within the container; and

accessing the business-logic component from the instantiated server.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

instantiating a server component within the container.

12. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

instantiating all server components within the container.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein the instantiating the business-logic component within the container comprises:

instantiating an Enterprise Java™

Bean (EJB) within an EJB container.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the instantiating the server within the container comprises:

instantiating the server within the EJB container.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the instantiating the server within the EJB container comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server within the EJB container.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the instantiating the server within the EJB container further comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the instantiating the server within the EJB container further comprises:

instantiating all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

18. The method of claim 13, wherein the instantiating the server within the container comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server within the container.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the instantiating the server within the container comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server component within the container.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the server component is selected from a group consisting of:

a root portable object adapter (POA);

a child POA;

a POA manager;

a servant manager;

a POA policy;

a transient object;

a persistent object;

a session object;

an entity object;

a factory object;

a servant activator; and

a servant locator object.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein the instantiating the server within the container comprises:

instantiating all CORBA server components within the container.

22. The method of claim 18, wherein the instantiating the CORBA server within the container comprises:

instantiating the CORBA server within the EJB container.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the instantiating the CORBA server within the container comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

24. The method of claim 22, wherein the instantiating the CORBA server within the container comprises:

instantiating all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

25. The method of claim 10, wherein the instantiating the server comprises:

instantiating a CORBA server within the container.

26. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

instantiating a server component within the container.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein the instantiating the server component comprises:

instantiating the server component in response to a request.

28. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

instantiating all server components within the container.

receiving a request;

executing the request at the business-logic component to generate a result; and

returning the result.

30. A system for providing interoperability comprising:

logic configured to instantiate a business-logic component within a container;

logic configured to instantiate a server within the container; and

logic configured to access the business-logic component from the instantiated server.

31. A system for providing interoperability comprising:

logic configured to instantiate a server within an Enterprise Java™

Bean (EJB) container; and

logic configured to access a local interface of the EJB from the instantiated server.

32. The system of claim 31, wherein the logic configured to instantiate the server comprises:

logic configured to instantiate a CORBA server within the EJB container.

33. The system of claim 32, further comprising:

logic configured to instantiate a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

34. The system of claim 32, further comprising:

logic configured to instantiate all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

35. A system for providing interoperability comprising:

means for instantiating a server within an Enterprise Java™

Bean (EJB) container; and

means for accessing a local interface of the EJB from the instantiated server.

36. The method of claim 35, wherein the means for instantiating the server comprises:

means for instantiating a CORBA server within the EJB container.

37. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

means for instantiating a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

38. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

means for instantiating all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

39. A computer-readable medium comprising:

computer-readable code adapted to instruct a programmable device to instantiate a server within an Enterprise Java™

Bean (EJB) container; and

computer-readable code adapted to instruct a programmable device to access a local interface of the EJB from the instantiated server.

40. The computer-readable medium of claim 39, further comprising:

computer-readable code adapted to instruct a programmable device to instantiate a CORBA server component within the EJB container.

41. The computer-readable medium of claim 39, further comprising:

computer-readable code adapted to instruct a programmable device to instantiate all CORBA server components within the EJB container.

42. The computer-readable medium of claim 39, wherein the computer-readable code adapted to instruct a programmable device to instantiate the server comprises:

computer-readable code adapted to instruct a programmable device to instantiate a CORBA server within the EJB container.
