- a means for holding a blood sample;
a means for sending one or more ultrasonic signals into said blood sample;
a means for receiving one or more ultrasonic signals from said blood sample; and
a means for determining at least one property selected from the group consisting of HCT, HGB, MCV, RBC, MCHC, MCH, and combinations thereof, of the blood.

Abstract
The present invention provides an apparatus and method for measuring the properties of blood using ultrasound. The present invention is particularly suitable for measuring HCT, HGB, MCV, RBC, MCHC, MCH or TPC of blood.
