Abstract
This invention provides devices and methods for mixing and extruding compositions which are medically and non-medically useful. The devices are particularly useful for mixing substances which are relatively inert when alone but become reactive when mixed. A common feature of all of the devices is that they allow the user to mix and ultimately extrude a composition from a single device which includes a single container or multiple interconnected containers.

13. A method for mixing and extruding a composite material comprising the steps of:

a. providing a medical device comprising;
i. a first container having a first opening, the first container being adapted to contain a first chemically reactive substance;
ii. a second container having a second opening, the second container being adapted to contain a second chemically reactive substance;
iii. a third container having a third opening;
iv. a connector that connects the first opening, second opening, and third opening such that the first chemically reactive substance and the second chemically reactive substance can travel through the connector and through the third opening into the third container to form a composition; and
v. a member for extruding the composition from the third container;
b. placing a first chemically active substance in the first container;
c. placing a second chemically active substance in the second container;
d. causing the first and second chemically reactive substances to travel into the connector;
e. causing the first and second chemically reactive substances to travel from the connector through the third opening into the third container;
f. allowing the first and second chemically reactive substances to react, thereby forming a composition; and

a. providing a medical device comprising;
i. a first container having a first opening, the first container being adapted to contain a first chemically reactive substance;

iii. a connector that connects the first opening and second openings such that the first chemically reactive substance can travel through the connector and through the second opening into the second container wherein the first and second chemically reactive substances can react to form a composition; and
iv. means for extruding the composition from the second container;
b. placing a first chemically reactive substance in the first container;
c. placing a second chemically reactive substance in the second container;
d. causing the first chemically reactive substance to travel through the connector and through the second opening into the second container whereby the first and second chemically reactive substances react to form a composition; and

the removable cap containing a removable cover that covers a port into which a luer tip can be inserted;
placing at least two chemically reactive substances in the tube;
causing the substances to react to form a composition; and

providing a syringe having a hollow cylindrical tube with a forward opening, and a rear opening through which a piston is fitted;
the forward opening being fitted such that a removable cap can cover the forward opening; and
the removable cap containing a removable cover that covers a port into which a luer tip can be inserted;
placing a first reactive substance in the tube and freezing the first reactive substance;
placing a second non-reactive substance on top of the first reactive substance and freezing the tube again, placing a second reactive substance on top of the non-reactive substance and freezing the tube, sublimating the non-reactive substance during the freezing process leaving a void between the first and second reactive substances, aspirating water in the tube causing the first and second substance to react to form a composition;

56. A method for mixing a first reactive substance and a second reactive substance comprising the steps of:

providing a syringe having a hollow cylindrical tube with a forward opening, and a rear opening through which a piston is fitted;
the forward opening being fitted such that a removable cap can cover the forward opening; and
the removable cap containing a removable cover that covers a port into which a luer tip can be inserted;
placing a first reactive component into the syringe;
placing a second reactive component into the syringe; and
