A second composition having a safe and effective amount of lidocaine and a safe and effective amount of topical antibiotic, wherein the composition is topically applied to a wound on a patient. A method for treating a patient having a skin wound by locally administering a safe and effective amount of lidocaine and an antibiotic compound in the skin wound such that healing of the skin wound is enhanced.
