9. (new) A method for transmitting an emergency call from a mobile telecommunication device in a UMTS mobile telecommunication network, the method comprising the steps of:
- sending an RRC connection request via a serving radio network controller following setup of an RRC connection;
returning, via the serving radio network controller, an acknowledgement of the RRC connection request via an RRC connection setup signal to the telecommunications device following successful detection of the RRC connection request; and
confirming, via the telecommunications device, an established RRC connection to the serving radio network controller via an RRC connection complete message, wherein a current position of the respective mobile telecommunications device is determined proir to or during the transmission of the emergency call independently of further components of the telecommunications network and i transmitted to the serving radio network controller with the RRC connection complete message, and wherein a direct connection is subsequently set up between the telecommunications device and a location service call client with aid of a mobile services switching center which is connected to the serving radio network controller.

Abstract
To accelerate the specification of a location during the sending of an emergency call of a mobile telecommunications device, in particular a terminal, the position of the respective mobile telecommunications device is determined prior to the sending of the call and/or independently of the mobile telecommunications network and is transmitted when the emergency call is sent.

16. (new) A UMTS mobile telecommunications network for transmitting an emergency call from a mobile telecommunications device which is in the mobile telecommunications network, comprising:
-
at least one mobile telecommunications device;
a serving radio radio network controller, wherein an RRC connection request is sent to the serving radio network controller following setup of an RRC connection, the serving radio network connection returns an acknowledgement of the RRC connection request via an RRC connection setup signal to the mobile telecommunications device following successfull detection of the RRC connection request, the mobile telecommunications device confirms an established RRC connection to the serving radio network controller via an RRC connection complete message, and a current position of the respective mobile telecommunications device is determined prior to or during the transmission of the emergency call independently of further components of the telecommunications network and is transmitted to the serving radio network controller with the RRC connection complete message; and
a mobile services switching center connected to the serving radio network controller, wherein a direct connection is subsequently set up between the mobile telecommunications device and a location service call client with aid of the mobile services switching center.
