Abstract

A wireless communication device may have several contact buttons, including, for example, a Mom button, a Dad button and a Home button. The device may also have a Send button and an End button. A child may press one of the contact buttons, then dial Send, and a call will be placed to the specifically denoted contact. Accordingly, a child may easily and efficiently use the present invention to quickly wirelessly communicate with another person, without the confusion of extraneous buttons. The wireless communication device also includes a system and method for emergency dialing. Emergency dialing is effected by pressing an emergency call button and the Send button. In this manner, accidental dialing of an emergency number is avoided. The wireless device can be remotely programmed such that a parent or other person may remotely program the numbers called when the contact buttons are pressed. Accordingly, if a parent or other person plan to change locations, the device may be remotely reprogrammed with a different contact number for that parent. The wireless communication device may be reprogrammed via a telephone call from a remote location or from a computer via the Internet.

Claims

1. A wireless communication device, comprising:

a microprocessor;

a memory device electrically connected to said microprocessor; and

a plurality of buttons electrically connected to said microprocessor;

wherein said buttons may be used in conjunction with the microprocessor and memory device to initiate a call to a predetermined telephone number;

wherein one of said buttons is an emergency call button, which is used in conjunction with another button, whereby when the emergency call button is pressed and held down while the other button is pressed, a call is placed to an emergency call number.

2. The wireless communication device of claim 1, further comprising an indicator light, wherein during an outgoing call to the predetermined telephone number associated with one of the buttons, the indicator light glows in a color corresponding to the predetermined number associated with the button.

3. The wireless communication device of claim 2, wherein the indicator light glows red when the emergency call button is pressed.

4. The wireless communication device of claim 3, wherein the Send button is pressed after the indicator light glows red.

5. A wireless communication device, comprising:

means for processing wireless telecommunications;

means for storing a predetermined telephone number;

means for initiating a call to the predetermined telephone number; and

means for dialing an emergency call number, whereby when an emergency call button is pressed and held down while another button is pressed, a call is placed to an emergency call number.

6. The wireless communication device of claim 5, further comprising a means for indicating whether an outgoing call is to the predetermined telephone number associated with one of the buttons.

7. The wireless communication device of claim 6, wherein the means for indicating is an indicator light which glows red when the emergency call button is pressed.

8. The wireless communication device of claim 7, wherein the Send button is pressed after the indicator light glows red.

9. A wireless communication device, comprising:

a microprocessor;

a memory device electrically connected to said microprocessor; and

a plurality of buttons electrically connected to said microprocessor;

wherein one of said buttons is an emergency call button, which is used in conjunction with another button, whereby when the emergency call button is pressed and held down while the other button is pressed, a call is placed to an emergency call number.

10. The wireless communication device of claim 9, wherein an indicator light glows red when the emergency call button is pressed.

11. The wireless communication device of claim 10, wherein the Send button is pressed after the indicator light glows red.
