A fire protection device for domestic appliances comprising at least one fault current circuit breaker and at least one gas sensor (5) with gas sensor circuit, whereby the at least one fault current circuit breaker is designed such and arranged in the domestic appliance (2), that a fault current in one of the electrical conductor of the domestic appliance (2) results in disconnection of the electricity supply of the domestic appliance (2) and the at least one gas sensor (5) from a certain quantity of control gas inside the domestic appliance (2) generates a signal, which likewise leads to disconnection of the electricity supply of the domestic appliance (2).
