Abstract

A hand held or portable device (1) is configured to include a multitude of factors from which sporting success conditions such as applicable to fishing and hunting success may be predicted. In one embodiment, these may include: a lunar information element (2), a solar information element (3), a barometric information element (4), and a temperature information element (5) that provide input (directly or indirectly) to combination elements (6) and a sport success prediction element (7) that may provide a simplistic or other display (8) to a user. A composite barometric-lunar-solar-temperature effect may be calculated for the present or for a remote time and date through a future time forecast element (17).

Claims

1. A method of temporally predicting sporting success comprising the steps of:

determining at least some sporting location determinative information;

assessing at least some date information;

assessing at least some lunar information based upon said date information;

assessing at least some solar information based upon said date information;

assessing at least some barometric information;

combining said lunar information and said solar information and said barometric information to create a composite barometric-lunar-solar effect; and

utilizing said composite barometric-lunar-solar effect in predicting sport success.

2. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the steps of:

sensing at least some barometric information; and

automatically factoring said at least some barometric information into said step of combining said barometric information with said lunar information and said solar information to create a composite barometric-lunar-solar effect.

3. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a success event factor selected from a group consisting of success event factors which are:

highest for a falling barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value, each when in the most favorable range of pressures;

highest for a rising barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a falling barometric pressure value, each when in a range of pressures which are lower than the most favorable range of pressures; and

highest for a steady barometric pressure value, lesser for a falling barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value, each when in a range of pressures which are higher than the most favorable range of pressures.

4. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1 and further comprising the step of forecasting a sport success prediction for a future time.

5. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 4 and further comprising the step of accepting an input for a future time and date.

6. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 4 wherein said step of forecasting a sport success prediction for a future time comprises the step of utilizing different criteria than utilized for a present time.

7. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 3 wherein said step of utilizing said composite lunar-solar effect in predicting sport success comprises the step of equally weighting a lunar position factor, a lunar phase factor, and a solar position factor.

8. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 7 and further comprising the steps of:

assessing at least some barometric information;

combining said barometric information with said lunar information and said solar information to create a composite barometric-lunar-solar effect; and

utilizing said composite barometric-lunar-solar effect to predict sport success.

9. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 8 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the step of comparing said sensed barometric information to historical barometric information.

10. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 9 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the steps of:

establishing a barometric pressure value success factor; and

establishing a barometric pressure change success factor.

11. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 8 or 10 wherein said step of utilizing said composite barometric-lunar-solar effect to predict sport success comprises the step of heavier weighting said barometric information as compared to each of said lunar position, lunar phase, and solar position information.

12. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 2 wherein said step of calculating said at least some solar information comprises the step of establishing a plurality of daily, solar influenced maximum success event factors.

13. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 12 wherein said step of establishing a plurality of daily, solar influenced maximum success event factors comprises the steps of:

establishing a sunrise daily maximum success event factor; and

establishing a sunset daily maximum success event factor.

14. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 13 wherein said sunrise daily maximum success event factor and said sunset daily maximum success event factor both establish about equivalent daily maximum success event factors.

15. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 3 wherein said step of calculating said at least some lunar information comprises the step of establishing a plurality of daily, lunar influenced maximum success event factors.

16. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 15 wherein said step of establishing a plurality of daily, lunar influenced maximum success event factors comprises the steps of:

establishing an overhead daily maximum success event factor;

establishing an underfoot daily maximum success event factor;

establishing a moonrise daily maximum success event factor; and

establishing a moonset daily maximum success event factor.

17. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 16 wherein said overhead daily maximum success event factor, said underfoot daily maximum success event factor, said moonrise daily maximum success event factor, and moonset daily maximum success event factor all establish about equivalent daily maximum success event factors.

18. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 15 or 16 wherein said step of calculating said at least some lunar information comprises the step of establishing a plurality of lunar phase influenced maximum success event factors.

19. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 18 wherein said step of establishing a plurality of lunar phase influenced maximum success event factors comprises the steps of:

establishing a new moon maximum success event factor;

establishing a full moon maximum success event factor;

establishing a one-quarter moon maximum success event factor; and

establishing a three-quarter moon maximum success event factor.

20. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 19 wherein said new moon maximum success event factor, said full moon maximum success event factor, said one-quarter moon maximum success event factor, and said three-quarter moon maximum success event factor all establish about equivalent daily maximum success event factors.

21. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1 and further comprising the step of electronically calculating a success predictive value.

22. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 21 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the steps of:

sensing at least some barometric information; and

automatically factoring said at least some barometric information into said step of combining said barometric information with said lunar information and said solar information to create a composite barometric-lunar-solar effect.

23. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 22 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the step of comparing said sensed barometric information to historical barometric information.

24. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 22 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the step of establishing at least one barometric influenced maximum success event factor.

25. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 24 wherein said step of establishing a plurality of barometric influenced maximum success event factors comprises the steps of:

establishing a barometric pressure value success factor; and

establishing a barometric pressure change success factor.

26. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 25 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting altitude determinative information;

utilizing said altitude determinative information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

27. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 25 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting location determinative information;

utilizing said location determinative information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

28. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 24 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a maximum success event factor within a range of altitude-adjusted barometric pressures of about 29.8 inches of mercury to about 30.2 inches of mercury.

29. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 24 or 28 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a success event factor selected from a group consisting of success event factors which are:

highest for a falling barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value, each when in the most favorable range of pressures;

highest for a rising barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a falling barometric pressure value, each when in a range of pressures which are lower than the most favorable range of pressures; and

highest for a steady barometric pressure value, lesser for a falling barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value, each when in a range of pressures which are higher than the most favorable range of pressures.

30. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 21 or 25 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting at least some animal species information;

utilizing said at least some animal species information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

31. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 30 wherein said step of accepting at least some animal species information comprises the step of accepting at least some general animal class information.

32. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 31 wherein said step of accepting at least some general animal class information comprises the step of accepting at least some general animal class information selected from a group consisting of a warm water fish input, a cool water fish input, and a cold water fish input.

33. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 31 wherein said step of accepting at least some general animal class information comprises the step of accepting at least some general animal class information selected from a group consisting of a deer input and an elk input.

34. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1 or 16 and further comprising the steps of:

assessing at least some temperature information;

combining said temperature information with said lunar information and said solar information to create a composite temperature-lunar-solar effect; and

utilizing said composite temperature-lunar-solar effect to predict sport success.

35. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 21, 23, or 25 and further comprising the steps of:

assessing at least some temperature information;

combining said temperature information with said lunar information, said solar information, and said barometric information to create a composite temperature-barometric-lunar-solar effect; and

utilizing said composite temperature-barometric-lunar-solar effect to predict sport success.

36. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 30 and further comprising the steps of:

assessing at least some temperature information;

combining said temperature information with said lunar information, said solar information, and said barometric information to create a composite temperature-barometric-lunar-solar effect; and

utilizing said composite temperature-barometric-lunar-solar effect to predict sport success.

37. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 34, 35 or 36 wherein said step of assessing at least some temperature information comprises the step of sensing at least some temperature information.

38. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 34, 35 or 36 wherein said step of assessing at least some temperature information comprises the step of accepting an input of at least some temperature information.

39. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 34, 45 or 36 wherein said step of assessing at least some temperature information comprises the step of accepting an input of at least some environment information relative to said temperature information.

40. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 39 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting at least some animal species information;

utilizing said at least some animal species information to predict sport success.

41. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 40 wherein said step of accepting at least some animal species information comprises the step of accepting at least some general animal class information.

42. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 41 wherein said step of accepting at least some general animal class information comprises the step of accepting at least some general animal class information selected from a group consisting of a warm water fish input, a cool water fish input, and a cold water fish input.

43. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 41 wherein said step of accepting at least some general animal class information comprises the step of accepting at least some general animal class information selected from a group consisting of a deer input and an elk input.

44. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 39, 40, 41, 42 or 43 wherein said step of accepting an input of at least some environment information relative to said temperature information comprises the step of accepting an input of at least some environment information relative to said temperature information selected from a group consisting of:

a daily temperature range input,

a daily high temperature input,

a daily low temperature input,

a temperature location input, and

a water temperature input.

45. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 42 wherein said step of assessing at least some temperature information comprises the step of establishing a maximum success event factor for values selected from a group consisting of:

about 55 degrees Fahrenheit for cold water fish,

about 65 degrees Fahrenheit for cool water fish, and

about 70 degrees Fahrenheit for warm water fish.

76. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51, 59 or 67 and further comprising the step of providing said steps of assessing and utilizing in a hand-held device.

77. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 76 and further comprising the step of electronically calculating a success predictive value in said hand held device.

78. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 77 wherein said hand held device has at least one control input function and further comprising the step of establishing at least one of said control input functions as temporarily inoperable.

79. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51, 59 or 67 and further comprising the step of providing a user a meter-based indication of said sport success prediction.

80. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 79 wherein said step of providing a user a meter-based indication of said sport success prediction comprises the step of displaying a bar chart indication to a user.

81. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51 or 59 and further comprising the step of providing a user a barometric pressure history indication.

82. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51 or 81 and further comprising the step of providing a user a lunar phase indication.

83. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51, 81, or 82 and further comprising the step of providing a user a lunar position indication.

84. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51, 81, 82 or 83 and further comprising the step of providing a user a solar position indication.

85. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51 or 67 and further comprising the step of forecasting a sport success prediction for a future time.

86. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 85 and further comprising the step of accepting an input for a future time and date.

87. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 85 wherein said step of forecasting a sport success prediction for a future time comprises the step of utilizing different criteria than utilized for a present time.

88. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 87 wherein said step of utilizing different criteria than utilized for a present time comprises the step of avoiding unpredictable factors.

89. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 88 wherein said step of avoiding unpredictable factors comprises the step of avoiding weather-related factors.

90. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 88 wherein said step of utilizing said effect in predicting sport success comprises the step of equally weighting predictable factors.

91. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 88 wherein said step of utilizing said effect in predicting sport success comprises the step of equally weighting a lunar position factor, a lunar phase factor, and a solar position factor.

92. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51 or 67 and further comprising the step of presenting a user simplistic graphics relative to said prediction.

93. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 92 wherein said step of presenting a user simplistic graphics relative to said prediction comprises the step of graphically displaying moon phase.

94. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 93 wherein said step of graphically displaying moon phase comprises the step of utilizing a single graphic display for all moon phases.

95. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 94 wherein said step of utilizing a single graphic display for all moon phases comprises the step of including four phase indicias within said single graphic display.

96. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 92 wherein said step of presenting a user simplistic graphics relative to said prediction comprises the step of graphically displaying moon position relative to a user'"'"'s position.

97. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 96 wherein said step of graphically displaying moon position relative to a user'"'"'s position comprises the step of utilizing a single graphic display for all moon positions.

106. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 1, 14, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 46, 51 or 67 wherein said step of determining at least some sporting location determinative information comprises the step of utilizing GPS signals.

46. A method of temporally predicting sporting success comprising the steps of:

determining at least some sporting location determinative information;

assessing at least some date information;

assessing at least some lunar information based upon said date information;

assessing at least some barometric information;

combining said barometric information with said lunar information to create a composite barometric-lunar effect; and

utilizing said composite barometric-lunar effect to predict sport success.

47. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 46 and further comprising the steps of:

estimating a weather forecast character;

displaying said weather forecast character to a user.

48. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 46 or 47 and further comprising the step of automatically alerting said user of a potentially severe weather condition.

49. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 48 and further comprising the step of calculating a rate of barometric pressure change.

50. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 46 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the steps of:

sensing at least some barometric information; and

automatically factoring said at least some barometric information into said step of combining said barometric information with said lunar information to create a composite barometric-lunar effect.

51. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 50 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the step of comparing said sensed barometric information to historical barometric information.

52. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 50 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the step of establishing at least one barometric influenced maximum success event factor.

53. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 52 wherein said step of establishing a plurality of barometric influenced maximum success event factors comprises the steps of:

establishing a barometric pressure value success factor; and

establishing a barometric pressure change success factor.

54. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 53 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting altitude determinative information;

utilizing said altitude determinative information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

55. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 53 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting location determinative information;

utilizing said location determinative information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

56. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 52 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a maximum success event factor within a range of altitude-adjusted barometric pressures of about 29.8 inches of mercury to about 30.2 inches of mercury.

A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 52 or 56 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a success event factor which is highest for a falling barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value.

58. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 46 or 53 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting at least some animal species information;

utilizing said at least some animal species information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

59. A method of temporally predicting sporting success comprising the steps of:

assessing at least some barometric information;

automatically utilizing said barometric information to create a barometric effect; and

utilizing said barometric effect to predict sport success.

60. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 59 wherein said step of automatically utilizing said barometric information to create a barometric effect comprises the steps of:

sensing a barometric pressure; and

comparing said sensed barometric information to historical barometric information.

61. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 59 or 60 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information further comprises the step of establishing at least one barometric influenced maximum success event factor.

62. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 61 wherein said step of automatically utilizing said barometric information to create a barometric effect comprises the steps of:

establishing a barometric pressure value success factor; and

establishing a barometric pressure change success factor.

63. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 62 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting altitude determinative information;

utilizing said altitude determinative information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

64. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 62 and further comprising the steps of:

accepting location determinative information;

utilizing said location determinative information in combination with said barometric information to predict sport success.

A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 61 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a maximum success event factor within a range of altitude-adjusted barometric pressures of about 29.8 inches of mercury to about 30.2 inches of mercury.

A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 61 or 65 wherein said step of assessing at least some barometric information comprises the step of establishing a success event factor which is highest for a falling barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value.

67. A method of temporally predicting sporting success comprising the steps of:

determining at least some sporting location determinative information;

assessing at least some date information;

assessing at least some solar information based upon said date information;

assessing at least some lunar information based upon said date information;

electronically utilizing said solar information and said lunar information to create a combined lunar-solar effect; and

utilizing said combined lunar-solar effect in predicting sport success.

68. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 67 wherein said step of determining at least some sporting location determinative information comprises the step of accepting latitude and longitude inputs.

69. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 67 wherein said step of determining at least some sporting location determinative information comprises the step of accepting a time zone input.

70. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 67 wherein said step of determining at least some sporting location determinative information comprises the step of accepting a nearby location input.

71. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 67 wherein said step of determining at least some sporting location determinative information comprises the step of accepting a state input.

72. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 67 wherein said step of assessing at least some solar information comprises the steps of:

calculating said at least some solar information; and

automatically factoring said at least some solar information into said step of automatically utilizing said solar information to create a solar effect.

73. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 72 wherein said step of calculating said at least some solar information comprises the step of establishing a plurality of daily, solar influenced maximum success event factors.

74. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 73 wherein said step of establishing a plurality of daily, solar influenced maximum success event factors comprises the steps of:

establishing a sunrise daily maximum success event factor; and

establishing a sunset daily maximum success event factor.

75. A method of temporally predicting sporting success as described in claim 74 wherein said sunrise daily maximum success event factor and said sunset daily maximum success event factor both establish about equivalent daily maximum success event factors.

107. A sporting success temporal prediction device comprising:

a location determinative information element;

a date information element;

a lunar information element responsive to said date information element;

a solar information element responsive to said date information element;

a barometric information element;

a combination element responsive to said lunar information element and said solar information element and said barometric information element which creates a composite barometric-lunar-solar effect; and

a sport success prediction element responsive to said composite barometric-lunar-solar effect.

108. A sporting success temporal prediction device as described in claim 107 wherein said barometric information element comprises:

a barometric pressure sensor; and

an automatic barometric factor element responsive to said barometric pressure sensor.

109. A sporting success temporal prediction device as described in claim 107 wherein said barometric information element comprises a barometric pressure change success factor element configured to establish a success event factor which is selected from a group consisting of a success event factors which are:

highest for a falling barometric pressure value, lesser for a steady barometric pressure value, and lesser yet for a rising barometric pressure value, each when in the most favorable range of pressures;
