Abstract

A device and system for dispensing medical active ingredients. Medical active ingredients may be, e.g., drugs or anesthetics, which enter the patient'"'"'s bloodstream. Injection pumps and perfusors are usually used for their dispensing, and vapors are frequently used in the case of inhalation anesthetics. The device permits the dispensing of a plurality of medical active ingredients, in which the rates of dispensing can be set precisely and changed with rapid action. This is accomplished by the series connection of a plurality of devices according to the present invention, which are designed as modules. Each module comprises a cartridge (6) as well as a delivery device (8) for delivering the particular medical active ingredient to be administered to a fluid interface (18), which leads to a supply line (16) designed either as an infusion line or as a respiration tube. The module has a coupling means (9, 10, 11, 12).

Claims

1. A device for dispensing medical active ingredients, comprising a module with:

a coupling means for series connection with adjacent modules;

a fluid interface connectable to a supply line leading to a patient;

a cartridge for receiving a medical active ingredient; and

a delivery means for delivering the medical active ingredient from said cartridge to said fluid interface.

2. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the module comprises an upper part and a lower part, wherein said upper part accommodates said cartridge, said delivery means and said fluid interface and said lower part is designed as a holder for said upper part and comprises said coupling means.

3. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said delivery means comprises a micropump.

4. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said cartridge has a code.

5. A device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said cartridge comprises a disposable article detachably from the module.

6. A medical active ingredient dispensing system, comprising:

a supply line leading to a patient

a module with a coupler for series connection with another adjacent module, a fluid interface connectable to the supply line leading to the patient, a cartridge for receiving a medical active ingredient and a delivery device delivering the medical active ingredient from said cartridge to said fluid interface; and

another module with a coupler for series connection with another adjacent module, a fluid interface connectable to the supply line leading to the patient, a cartridge for receiving a medical active ingredient and a delivery device delivering the medical active ingredient from said cartridge to said fluid interface, said module and said another module being coupled in series and connected to said supply line.

7. A system in accordance with claim 6, wherein each module comprises an upper part and a lower part, wherein said upper part accommodates said cartridge, said delivery means and said fluid interface and said lower part is designed as a holder for said upper part and comprises said coupling means.

8. A device in accordance with claim 6, wherein said delivery device comprises a micropump.

9. A system in accordance with claim 6, wherein said cartridge has a code.

10. A system in accordance with claim 9, wherein said delivery device includes a code reader for reading said code of said cartridge.

11. A system in accordance with claim 6, wherein said cartridge comprises a disposable article detachably from the module.

12. A system in accordance with claim 10, wherein said coupler includes pins and a receiving portion for coupling with pins of an adjacent module for electric and data coupling and mechanical connection.

13. A system in accordance with claim 12, further comprising:

an evaluating and control unit for processing data from connected modules and for receiving information stored on the code.
