Abstract

A display system (12) for attachment to a sill (14) of a window structure (26) has been provided. The display system (12) includes a mounting device (28) for attaching the display system (12) to the sill (14) of the window structure (26) and a display device (18) for attachment to the mounting device (26). The display device (18) is intended to communicate various information to the viewer of the display device and preserve or create more available space surrounding the window structure (26).

Claims

1. A display system for attachment to a sill of a window structure, comprising:

a mounting device coupled to the sill; and

a display device coupled to said mounting device.

2. The display system of claim 1 wherein said mounting device is a one-piece bracket comprising a sill attachment portion adapted to be coupled to the windowsill and a display attachment portion that is adapted to have said display device coupled thereto.

3. The display system of claim 2 wherein said one-piece bracket further comprises an extension portion connected to and extending between said sill attachment portion and said display attachment portion.

4. The display system of claim 3 wherein at least one of said display attachment portion and said extension portion includes an opening formed therethrough for allowing access to said sill attachment portion.

5. The display system of claim 2 wherein said sill attachment portion defines at least one opening for receiving at least one sill fastener for coupling said sill attachment portion to the sill.

6. The display system of claim 2 wherein said display attachment portion has at least one tab extending therefrom for coupling to said display device.

7. The display system of claim 6 wherein each of said at least one tab defines an aperture for receiving at least one display fastener and coupling said display device to said tab.

8. The display system of claim 1 wherein the window structure is an integral part of at least one of a vehicle and a building.

9. The display system of claim 1 wherein said mounting device is comprised of material selected from the group consisting of a metal material, a ceramic material, a plastic material, and a composite laminate material.

10. A display system comprising:

a window structure being an integral part of at least one of a vehicle and a building, said window structure including a windowsill;

a mounting device coupled to said windowsill;

a mounting tray coupled to said mounting device; and

a display device coupled to said mounting tray.

The display system of claim 10 wherein said windowsill has a sill panel coupled thereto, said sill panel intended to cover said windowsill and a substantial portion of said mounting device, said sill panel defining a display device opening for permitting access to said display device that is substantially positioned therein.

12. The display system of claim 10 wherein said mounting device is a one-piece bracket comprising a sill attachment portion adapted to be coupled to said windowsill and a display attachment portion adapted to have said display device coupled thereto.

13. The display system of claim 12 wherein said one-piece bracket further comprises an extension portion connected to and extending between said sill attachment portion and said display attachment portion.

14. The display system of claim 13 wherein at least one of said display attachment portion and said extension portion includes an opening formed therethrough for allowing access to said sill attachment portion.

15. The display system of claim 12 wherein said sill attachment portion defines at least one opening for receiving at least one sill fastener for coupling said sill attachment portion to the sill.

16. The display system of claim 12 wherein said display attachment portion has at least one tab extending therefrom for coupling to said mounting tray.

17. The display system of claim 16 wherein each of said at least one tab defines an aperture for receiving at least one tray fastener for coupling said mounting tray to said tab.

18. The display system of claim 16 wherein said mounting tray comprises:

a platform portion for coupling to said display device;

at least one ledge extending from said platform portion, said at least one ledge contacting and supporting said display device; and

at least one flap extending from said platform portion, said at least one flap being coupled to said at least one tab of said mounting device.

19. The display system of claim 18 wherein said platform portion defines at least one notch for receiving at least one display fastener therethrough for coupling said display device to said platform portion of said mounting tray.

20. A display system for an aircraft comprising:

a window structure being an integral part of the aircraft, said window structure including a windowsill;

a mounting device extending from said windowsill; and

a display device coupled to said mounting device.
