Abstract

A method for playing a game of chance and system for facilitating the play of the game are disclosed. The method of playing the game of chance includes receiving a ticket containing a set of playing cards. The method of playing the game of chance further includes viewing a display screen that displays a second set of playing cards. The method of playing the game further includes receiving a prize if the combination of the playing cards on the ticket and the playing cards on the display matches a predetermined pattern.

Claims

1. A method of playing a game of chance, comprising:

receiving a ticket including a plurality of symbols, said plurality of symbols each representing a playing card;

combining the plurality of symbols on the ticket with a second plurality of symbols on a display, said second plurality of symbols each representing a playing card;

determining if the ticket is a winning ticket based on the combination of the first and second sets of symbols.

2. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 1, wherein

the second set of symbols are determined prior to the receipt of the ticket.

3. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 1, wherein

the percentage of winning tickets is fixed prior to the display of the second set of symbols.

4. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 1, further comprising:

tendering a winning ticket;

receiving a prize.

5. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 4, wherein

the ticket contains an authentication code and the prize is received if the authentication code is validated.

6. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 4, wherein

the prize is received if a combination of the first set of symbols and the second set of symbols satisfy a predetermined pattern.

7. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 4, wherein

the prize is received if a combination of the first set of symbols and the second set of symbols satisfy a predetermined pattern;

wherein there is a plurality of predetermined patters, and the size of the prize is a function of the predetermined pattern which is matched.

8. The method of playing a game of chance of claim 4, wherein

the prize is received if a combination of the first set of symbols and the second set of symbols satisfy a predetermined pattern;

there is a plurality of predetermined patterns, and the size of the prize is a function of the predetermined pattern which is matched; and

the predetermined patterns are a poker hand.

9. A method for facilitating the play of a game of chance, comprising;

providing a ticket including a first set of symbols, said set of symbols each representing a playing card;

displaying a second set of symbols on a display terminal; and

redeeming the ticket when tendered for a prize based on a combination of the first and second set of symbols.

10. The method for facilitating the play of a game of chance of claim 9, wherein

the ticket may be redeemed for a prize if the combination the first set of symbols and the second set of symbols match a predetermined pattern.

11. The method for facilitating the play of a game of chance of claim 10, wherein

there is a plurality of predetermined patters, and the size of the prize is a function of the predetermined pattern which is matched.

12. The method for facilitating the play of a game of chance of claim 11, wherein the predetermined pattern is a poker hand.

13. The method for facilitating the play of a game of chance of claim 10, further comprising:

determining the second set of symbols prior to the providing of the ticket.

14. The method for facilitating the play of a game of chance of claim 10, further comprising:

determining if the ticket is a winner and the prize, prior to providing the ticket.

15. A ticket comprising

a set of symbols, said symbols each representing a playing card adapted to be combined with a second set of symbols on a display terminal to determine whether the ticket is a winning ticket.

16. The ticket of claim 15 further comprising;

an authentication code, wherein the authentication code can be used to determine if the ticket is a winning ticket.

17. The ticket of claim 16, wherein

the second set of symbols is determined prior to the providing of the ticket to a customer.

18. The ticket of claim 15, wherein

whether the ticket is a winning ticket is known at the time the ticket is provided to a customer.

19. The ticket of claim 15, wherein

a winning ticket may be redeemed for a prize.

20. The ticket of claim 19, wherein

there is a plurality of predetermined patterns, and the size of the prize is a function of the predetermined pattern which is matched.

21. The ticket of claim 19, wherein

there is a plurality of predetermined patters, and the size of the prize is a function of the predetermined pattern which is matched;

and

the predetermined pattern is a poker hand.

22. An article of manufacture comprising a computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions adapted to be executed by a processor, the instructions which, when executed, define a series of steps to be used to control a method of facilitating a game of chance, the method comprising:

generating a ticket including a first set of symbols, said set of symbols each representing a playing card;

displaying a second set of symbols on a display terminal; and

redeeming the ticket when tendered for a prize based on a combination of the first and second set of symbols.
