Abstract

An improved multiparameter lighting fixture is provided comprising a base, a yoke, a lamp housing, and a communication port for receiving address and command signals. The lamp housing may be comprised of a lamp, a light valve, and a lens. The lamp, the light valve and the lens may cooperate to project, for example, an ownership image, a fixture identifier image, a time identifier image, a show identifier image, a content identifier image, or an effects identifier image. The lamp, the light valve and the lens may cooperate to produce a first image on a projection surface and a second image may be created from the first image by applying an interactive effect to the first image in response to an image captured by a camera.

Claims

1. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communication port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens,

wherein the lamp, the light valve and the lens cooperate to project an ownership image on a projection surface.

2. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image is created by ownership image data and the ownership image data is entered by a purchaser of the multiparameter lighting fixture.

3. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image projected on the projection surface is comprised of a name of an owner.

4. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image is comprised of an address.

5. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a phone number.

6. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a web address.

7. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a logo.

8. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 1

wherein the ownership image can be changed with a password.

9. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

a stand alone control system;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project an ownership image on a projection surface when an input is received at the stand alone control system.

10. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperating to project an image on a projection surface; and

wherein the communications port receives a command and the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate by projecting an ownership image on a projection surface.

11. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project a fixture identifier image on the projection surface that is used to identify the multiparameter lighting fixture from a plurality of multiparameter lighting fixtures projecting on the projection surface.

12. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 11

wherein the fixture identifier image is displayed on the projection surface in response to a command from a central controller and an operator of the central controller identifies the multiparameter lighting device.

13. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 12

wherein the fixture identifier image is superimposed over an additional image being projected by the image projection lighting device.

14. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project a time identifier image on a projection surface that can be observed by an operator of a central controller to better manage programming time.

15. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 14

wherein the time identifier image is displayed on the projection surface in response to a command from the central controller.

16. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 14

wherein the time identifier image is superimposed over an additional image being projected by the multiparameter lighting fixture.

17. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim of claim 14

wherein the time identifier image is a count down timer image.

18. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project a show identifier image on a projection surface that can be observed by an operator of a central controller to identify a current show.

19. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 18

wherein the show identifier image is a logo.

20. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 18

wherein the show identifier image is a performer'"'"'s name who is performing during the current show.

21. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 18

wherein the show identifier image is a title of the current show.

22. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 18

wherein the show identifier image is displayed on the projection surface in response to a command from a central controller.

23. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 18

wherein the show identifier image is superimposed over an additional image being projected by the multiparameter lighting fixture.

24. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens,

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project a content identifier image on a projection surface that can be observed by an operator of a central controller to identify the content used to project an image on the projection surface.

25. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 24

wherein the content identifier image is displayed on the projection surface in response to a command from a central controller.

26. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 24

wherein the content identifier image is superimposed over an additional image being projected by the multiparameter lighting fixture.

27. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communication port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project an effects identifier image on a projection surface that is observed by an operator of a central controller to identify an effect used to modify an image on the projection surface.

28. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 27

wherein the effects identifier image is displayed on the projection surface in response to a command from a central controller.

29. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 27

wherein the effects identifier image is superimposed over an additional image being projected by the multiparameter lighting fixture.

30. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens; and

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project an ownership identifier image on a projection surface that can be observed by an operator of a central controller to identify ownership of the multiparameter lighting fixture.

31. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 30

wherein the ownership identifier image is displayed on the projection surface in response to a command from a central controller.

32. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 30

wherein the ownership identifier image is superimposed over an additional image being projected by the multiparameter lighting fixture.

33. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communication port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens;

wherein the lamp, the light valve, and the lens cooperate to project an ownership image on a projection surface when the multiparameter lighting fixture is enabled.

34. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 33

wherein the ownership image is created by ownership image data and the ownership image data can be entered by a purchaser of the multiparameter lighting fixture.

35. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 33

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a name of an owner.

36. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 33

wherein the ownership image is comprised of an address.

37. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 33

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a phone number.

38. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 33

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a web address.

wherein the ownership image is comprised of a logo.

40. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve, and

a lens; and

wherein in response to an ownership inquiry command received at the communications port ownership data is transmitted from the communications port.

41. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 40

wherein the ownership data transmitted from the communications port is transmitted to a central controller to be viewed on a monitor of the central controller.

42. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communication port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve,

a lens, and

a camera,

wherein the lamp, the light valve and the lens cooperate to produce a first image on a projection surface and a second image is created from the first image by applying an interactive effect to the first image in response to an image captured by the camera.

43. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 42

wherein the communications port receives a command to apply the interactive effect in response to an image captured by the camera to the first image and the multiparameter lighting fixture responds by applying the interactive effect to the first image to create the second image.

44. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 42

wherein the interactive effect applied to the first image in response to the image captured by the camera is influenced by a change made by a performer or an audience.

45. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 44

wherein the image captured by the camera is comprised of a key color and the second image is created from the first image by applying the interactive effect to the first image in response to the key color.

46. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 45

wherein the key color is infrared.

47. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 45

wherein the key color is red.

48. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 45

wherein the key color is green.

59. A multiparameter lighting fixture comprising:

a base;

a yoke;

a lamp housing;

a communications port for receiving address and command signals;

the lamp housing comprising

a lamp,

a light valve,

a lens, and

a camera;

wherein the lamp, the light valve and the lens cooperate to produce a first image from content on a projection surface and the first image is changed to a second image from the content in response to an image captured by the camera.

60. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 59

wherein the communications port receives a command to apply an interactive change to change the first image to the second image and the multiparameter lighting fixture responds by changing the first image to the second image.

61. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 59

wherein the first image is changed to a second image based at least in part on a change made by a performer or an audience.

62. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 60

wherein the image captured by the camera is comprised of a key color and the first image is changed to the second image from the content in response to the key color.

63. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 62

wherein the key color is infrared.

64. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 62

wherein the key color is red

65. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 62

wherein the key color is green.

66. The multiparameter lighting fixture of claim 62

wherein the key color is blue.

67. A lighting system comprising

a plurality of image projection lighting devices including a first image projection lighting device and a second image projection lighting device;

and

a central controller;

wherein the first image projection lighting device can first receive an address and secondly receive a command to cause a first interactive change to a first image based on an image from a camera; and

wherein the second image projection lighting device can firstly receive an address and secondly receive a command to cause a second interactive change to a second image based on an image from a camera.

68. The lighting system of claim 67 wherein

the first image is different from the second image.

69. The lighting system of claim 67 wherein

the first interactive change is that the first image changes into a third image;

and

and the second interactive change is that the second image changes into a fourth image.

70. The lighting system of claim 69 wherein

the first image, the second image, the third image, and the fourth image are created from content.

71. A method comprising:

causing an image projection lighting device to project an ownership image on a projection surface; and

wherein the ownership image specifies the owner of the image projection lighting device.

72. A method comprising

causing an image projection lighting device to project a fixture identifier image on a projection surface;

and

wherein the fixture identifier image identifies the image projection lighting device.

73. A method comprising:

causing an image projection lighting device to project a time identifier image on a projection surface; and

wherein the time identifier image identifies the time left for programming a show.

74. A method comprising

causing an image projection lighting device to project a show identifier image on a projection surface;

and

wherein the show identifier image specifies the show currently being displayed by the image projection lighting device.

75. A method comprising

causing an image projection lighting device to project a content identifier image on a projection surface;

and

wherein the content identifier image specifies the content of what is currently being displayed by the image projection lighting device.

76. A method comprising

causing an image projection lighting device to project an effects identifier image on a projection surface;

and

wherein the effects identifier image specifies the effect currently being applied by the image projection lighting device.

77. A method comprising

projecting a first image on a projection surface;

capturing an image with a camera;

applying an interactive effect to the first image in response to the image captured by the camera to create a second image; and

projecting the second image onto the projection surface.
