Abstract

An archery arrow including conventional components such as a tubular shaft, a pointed head attached to the forward end of the shaft, fletching on the rearward portion of the shaft and a nock at the rear end of the shaft. The arrow structure also includes an illuminated nock of the present invention and includes a battery/switch/collar/L.E.D-combined unit, which is held in place by a single anchor pin with the L.E.D. portion of the battery inside a conventional translucent or clear nock. The arrow shaft also uses a wooden dowel or other like material to create a backstop and cushion within the arrow shaft. This may also be permanently constructed as part of the arrow shaft during manufacturing. This helps disperse the load generated from the strings forward motion when released from the bow in a full drawn position between the end cap and the entire battery and switch assembly. Upon shooting the arrow from a longbow, compound, or crossbow, the switch contacts are forced into the “closed switch” position by the forward force generated along the axis of the arrow shaft. Therefore, energizing the L.E.D. light source to give off light through the translucent or clear nock. Once shot and activated it'"'"'s a simple matter of removing the nock from the shaft pulling rearward on the battery while holding the nock in a stationary position to turn the LED off. With this configuration of components said lighted nock can be dislodged from the arrow shaft and still remain in the lighted position. This invention is also reusable by turning said nock off and reinserting the nock back into the arrow shaft and shooting again. I have also made and tested a working prototype.

Claims

1. A method for illuminating an archery arrow nock, said lighted nock installed in a tubular arrow shaft, said apparatus comprising:

a—

a light diffusing translucent or clear nock;

b—

a power source;

c—

an LED light source;

d—

a single pole switch;

e—

a dowel or dowels fitted in tubular arrow shaft as a means of limiting forward travel of said assembly;

f—

an end cap is provided as means of protection for battery and components;

g—

an anchor pin inserted through nock and collar assembly as a means of joining said components as a single unit;

h—

a hole drilled in nock and collar to accept anchor pin.

2. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, wherein;

the battery, led, switch, and collar are a combined unit.

3. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 2, wherein;

a means is provided for the illumination of the LED by compressing said components along the axis of the tubular arrow shaft and therefore creating an on or “

closed switch”

position in switch to energize said LED light source;

a—

a dowel or dowels are positioned forward of said illuminated nock in a fixed position within arrow shaft as a means of restricting forward travel.

4. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, whereas;

an end cap made of medium dense plastic or other like material is counter bored to accept insertion of said battery and is provided as a means of preventing damage and to absorb shock of said components creating a cushion effect along with adding protection and structural support of the batteries fragile thin wall aluminum construction.

5. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, whereas;

an anchor pin is provided as a means of joining said components to nock.

6. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, wherein;

is provided as a means of weatherproofing said nock assembly by remaining in the “

closed switch”

position under all normal hunting conditions until manually turned off.

7. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, wherein;

a translucent or clear nock is provided as means of diffusing light from the LED light source;

a—

an illuminated nock that can be turned to the on or “

closed switch”

position from forward pressure created from the string when shot from a bow or crossbow.

8. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, wherein;

will remain lit when removed from tubular arrow shaft.

9. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, whereas;

a hole drilled in nock and collar is provided a means of accepting anchor pin.

10. - illuminated arrow nock of claim 1, whereas;

an LED light source is provided to transmit light through said nock assembly.
