Abstract

The present invention provides a calling method by a mobile unit. The mobile unit pre-stores a default dialing number, and has a database storing a plurality of primary dialing numbers. Each of the primary dialing numbers corresponds to one geographic location. When a user dials a calling number, the present invention tests if the calling number is identical to the default dialing number. If the calling number is identical to the default dialing number, the present invention retrieving one primary dialing number from the database based upon a current location of the mobile unit. Then, the present invention makes a telephone connection based on the one primary dialing number.

Claims

1. A calling method by a mobile unit having pre-stored therein at least one default dialing number, said mobile unit having a first database storing a plurality of primary dialing numbers corresponding to at least one default dialing number, each of said primary dialing numbers corresponding to one geographic location, comprising:

(a) inputting a calling number dialed by a user;

(b) checking if the calling number is identical to said default dialing number;

(c) if the calling number is identical to said default dialing number in step (b), based upon a current location of said mobile unit, retrieving one primary dialing number from said first database; and

(d) making a first telephone connection with said one primary dialing number obtained in step (c).

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said default dialing number is a number for emergency service.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein said geographic location is a country.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein step (c) further comprises:

(e) if the calling number is identical to said default dialing number in step (b), based upon a Mobile Country Code (MCC) information received by said mobile unit from a current Public Line Mobile Network, retrieving one primary dialing number from said first database.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of dialing a second dialing number of a second database when step (d) mobile unit making telephone connection failed, said second database storing a plurality of secondary dialing numbers.

The method of claim 5, wherein each of said plurality of secondary dialing numbers correspond to Local Area Code (LAC), said mobile unit based upon a Local Area Code (LAC) information received by said mobile unit from a current Public Line Mobile Network, retrieving said second dialing number from said second database.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein each of said plurality of secondary dialing numbers corresponding to Mobile Country Code (MCC), said mobile unit retrieving said second dialing number sequentially from said second database.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein said second database further comprising a native number, when mobile unit cannot find an available secondary dialing number, said mobile unit retrieving said native number from said second database as said secondary dialing number.

9. A calling apparatus for a mobile unit having pre-stored therein a default dialing number, comprising:

a first database for storing a plurality of primary dialing numbers, each of said primary dialing numbers corresponding to one geographic location;

a test unit for testing if an input calling number dialed by a user is identical to said default dialing number;

a deriving unit for deriving one primary dialing number from said first database based upon a current location of said mobile unit if said input calling number is identical to said default dialing number; and

a connection unit for making a first telephone connection based upon said one primary dialing number obtained from said deriving unit.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein said default dialing number is a number for emergency service.

11. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said geographic location is a country.

12. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein said deriving unit further derives said primary dialing number based upon a Mobile Country Code (MCC) information received by said mobile unit from a current Public Line Mobile Network.

13. The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising:

a second database for storing a plurality of secondary dialing numbers, said mobile unit dialing a second dialing number of said second database when said mobile unit fails to make a telephone connection with said one primary dialing number, said second database storing a plurality of secondary dialing numbers.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein each of said plurality of secondary dialing numbers corresponds to a Local Area Code (LAC), said mobile unit based upon a Local Area Code (LAC) information received by said mobile unit from a current Public Line Mobile Network.

15. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein each of said plurality of secondary dialing numbers corresponds to a Mobile Country Code (MCC), said mobile unit retrieving said second dialing number sequentially from said second database.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein said second database further comprises a native number, when mobile unit cannot find an available secondary dialing number, said mobile unit retrieves said native number from said second database as said secondary dialing number.
