Abstract

A system and method in which unpublished subscribers of telecommunications services are able to receive a notification that an individual is trying to contact them, without revealing unpublished contact information. A requestor of a telecommunication subscriber'"'"'s unpublished contact information is given an opportunity to indirectly send the subscriber a notification message. This is accomplished by collecting information from the requestor regarding the desired content of the notification message and then sending the notification message to the subscriber. The unpublished subscriber receiving such a notification message has the choice of contacting the requestor or ignoring the notification message.

Claims

1. A method for sending a notification message to a telecommunication subscriber without revealing unpublished contact information, said method comprising:

providing a requestor of unpublished contact information of a telecommunication subscriber an opportunity to indirectly send said subscriber a notification message,

collecting information from said requester regarding content of said notification message; and

sending said notification message to said subscriber.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein said notification message is sent to a communication device of said subscriber as a text message.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising sending an e-mail containing said notification message to said subscriber as a supplement to said text message.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein said requestor is given said opportunity to indirectly send said notification message in exchange for a fee.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein collecting information from said requestor regarding content of said notification message includes providing means for allowing said requester to provide information via a landline or wireless telephone.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein collecting information from said requestor regarding content of said notification message includes providing means for allowing said requestor to provide information via a computer network and a web-enabled device.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein collecting information from said requestor regarding content of said notification message further includes causing an notification message screen to be displayed on said web-enabled device.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein said notification message screen includes a text box in which the text of said notification message is entered.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein said notification message screen includes additional text boxes in which said requestor'"'"'s name and access number are entered.

10. A system for sending a notification message to a telecommunication subscriber without revealing unpublished contact information, said system comprising:

means for requesters to request telecommunication subscriber contact information;

means for providing a requester of unpublished contact information of a telecommunication subscriber an opportunity to indirectly send said subscriber a notification message,

means for collecting information from said requestor regarding content of said notification message; and

means for sending said notification message to said subscriber.

11. The system of claim 10 wherein said means for sending said notification message to said subscriber sends said notification message to a communication device of said subscriber as a text message.

12. The system of claim 11 further comprising means for sending an e-mail containing said notification message to said subscriber as a supplement to said text message.

13. The system of claim 10 wherein said means for collecting information from said requestor regarding content of said notification message includes means for allowing said requester to provide information via a landline or wireless telephone.

14. The system of claim 10 wherein said means for collecting information from said requester regarding content of said notification message includes means for allowing said requester to provide information via a computer network and a web-enabled device.

15. The system of claim 14 wherein said means for allowing said requestor to provide information via a computer network and a web-enabled device further includes means for causing an notification message screen to be displayed on said web-enabled device.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein said notification message screen includes a text box in which the text of said notification message is entered.

17. The system of claim 16 wherein said notification message screen includes additional text boxes in which said requestor'"'"'s name and access number are entered.
