Abstract

A link structure and method for linking therein. The link structure includes a first page of a website and may include a global page of the website. The first page includes a link that has a default pointer and may have a local pointer, a global pointer, or both. The local pointer points to a local page and the global pointer points to the global page. A local link structure includes the local pointer but not the global pointer. A global link structure includes the global pointer but not the local pointer. A hybrid link structure includes the local pointer and the global pointer. Linking within the link structure may include linking from the link to the local page through the local pointer or linking from the link to the global page through the global pointer.

Claims

1. A local link structure, comprising:

a first local page of a first website; and

a first page of the first website, wherein the first page includes a first link, wherein the first link includes a first default pointer and a first local pointer, wherein the first default pointer points to a first default page, and wherein the first local pointer points to the first local page.

2. The local link structure of claim 1, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second local pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the first website.

3. The local link structure of claim 1, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second link does not include a local pointer.

4. The local link structure of claim 1, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second local pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the first website.

5. The local link structure of claim 1, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second link does not include a local pointer.

6. The local link structure of claim 1, wherein the first website includes the first default page.

7. The local link structure of claim 1, wherein a second web site includes the first default page.

34. The method of claim 33, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, a second local pointer, and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the website, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the first local page to the first page; and

second linking selected from the group consisting of linking from the second link to the second local page through the second local pointer and linking from the second link to the global page through the second global pointer.

8. A global link structure, comprising:

a global page of a first website; and

a first page of the first website, wherein the first page includes a first link, wherein the first link includes a first default pointer and a first global pointer, wherein the first default pointer points to a first default page, and wherein the first global pointer points to the global page.

9. The global link structure of claim 8, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page.

10. The global link structure of claim 8, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second link does not include the global pointer.

11. The global link structure of claim 8, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page.

12. The global link structure of claim 8, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, and wherein the second link does not include the global pointer.

13. The global link structure of claim 8, wherein the first website includes the first default page.

14. The global link structure of claim 8, wherein a second website includes the first default page.

15. A hybrid link structure, comprising:

a global page of a first website; and

a first page of the first website, wherein the first page includes a first link, wherein the first link includes a first default pointer, a first local pointer, and a first global pointer, wherein the first default pointer points to a first default page, wherein the first local pointer points to a first local page of the first website, and wherein the first global pointer points to the global page.

16. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, a second local pointer, and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the first website, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page.

17. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the second link does not include a local pointer.

18. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second local pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the first website, and wherein the second link does not include the global pointer.

19. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, a second local pointer, and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the first website, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page.

20. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the second link does not include a local pointer.

21. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, further comprising a second page of the first website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second local pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the first website, and wherein the second link does not include the global pointer.

22. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, wherein the first website includes the first default page.

23. The hybrid link structure of claim 15, wherein a second Internet website includes the first default page.

24. A method for linking within a website, comprising:

providing a local link structure, wherein the local link structure comprises a first page of the website, wherein the first page includes a first link, wherein the first link includes a first default pointer and a first local pointer, wherein the first default pointer points to a first default page, and wherein the first local pointer points to a first local page of the website; and

linking from the first link to the first local page through the first local pointer.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second local pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the website, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the first local page to the first page; and

linking from the second link to the second local page through the second local pointer.

26. The method of claim 24, further comprising a second page of the website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second local pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the website, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the first local page to the second page; and

linking from the second link to the second local page through the second local pointer.

27. The method of claim 24, wherein the linking comprises multiple clicking a mouse when a screen cursor is located on the first link.

28. A method for linking within a website, comprising:

providing a global link structure, wherein the global link structure includes a global page of the website and a first page of the website, wherein the first page includes a first link, wherein the first link includes a first default pointer and a first global pointer, wherein the first default pointer points to a first default page, and wherein the first global pointer points to the global page; and

linking from the first link to the global page through the first global pointer.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the global page to the first page; and

linking from the second link to the global page through the second global pointer.

30. The method of claim 28, wherein the global link structure further comprises a second page of the website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the global page to the second page; and

linking from the second link to the global page through the second global pointer.

31. The method of claim 28, wherein the linking comprises multiple clicking a mouse when a screen cursor is located on the first link.

32. A method for linking within a website, comprising:

providing a hybrid link structure, wherein the hybrid link structure comprises a global page of the website and a first page of the website, wherein the first page includes a first link, wherein the first link includes a first default pointer, a first local pointer, and a first global pointer, wherein the first default pointer points to a first default page, wherein the first local pointer points to a first local page of the website, wherein the first global pointer points to the global page; and

first linking selected from the group consisting of linking from the first link to the first local page through the first local pointer and linking from the first link to the global page through the first global pointer.

33. The method of claim 32, wherein the first linkng consists of linking from the first link to the first local page through the first local pointer.

The method of claim 33, wherein the hybrid link structure further comprises a second page of the website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, a second local pointer, and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the website, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the first local page to the second page; and

second linking selected from the group consisting of linking from the second link to the second local page through the second local pointer and linking from the second link to the global page through the second global pointer.

36. The method of claim 32, wherein the first linking consists of linking from the first link to the global page through the first global pointer.

37. The method of claim 36, wherein the first page further includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, a second local pointer, and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the website, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the global page to the first page; and

second linking selected from the group consisting of linking from the second link to the second local page through the second local pointer and linking from the second link to the global page through the second global pointer.

38. The method of claim 36, wherein the hybrid link structure further comprises a second page of the website, wherein the second page includes a second link, wherein the second link includes a second default pointer, a second local pointer, and a second global pointer, wherein the second default pointer points to a second default page, wherein the second local pointer points to a second local page of the website, and wherein the second global pointer points to the global page, and wherein the method further comprises:

navigating from the global page to the second page; and

second linking selected from the group consisting of linking from the second link to the second local page through the second local pointer and linking from the second link to the global page through the second global pointer.

39. A method for generating a local link structure, comprising:

requesting generation of a local pointer;

navigating to a first page of a website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a default pointer to a default page;

generating the local pointer at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website; and

designating the second page as a local page pointed to by the local pointer.

40. The method of claim 39, wherein the requesting and generating each comprise selecting a choice from a pop-up menu.

41. The method of claim 39, further comprising determining the second page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.

42. A method for generating a local link structure, comprising:

navigating to a first page of a website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a default pointer to a default page;

generating a local pointer at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website; and

designating the second page as a local page pointed to by the local pointer.

43. The method of claim 42, wherein the generating comprises selecting a choice from a pop-up menu.

44. The method of claim 42, further comprising determining the second page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.

45. A method for generating a global link structure, comprising:

requesting generation of a global page of a website;

navigating to a desired page of the website;

designating the desired page as the global page of the website;

navigating to a first page of the website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a first default pointer to a first default page;

generating a first global pointer to the global page at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website;

moving the cursor to a link on the second page, wherein the link on the second page includes a second default pointer to a second default page; and

generating a second global pointer to the global page at the link on the second page.

46. The method of claim 45, wherein the requesting generation of a global page, generating a first global pointer, and generating a second global pointer each comprise selecting a choice from a pop-up menu.

47. The method of claim 45, wherein the choice is at least one of:

a choice for requesting generation of a local pointer, a choice for generating a local pointer, a choice for requesting generation of a global page, and a choice for generating a global page.

48. The method of claim 45, further comprising determining the desired page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.

49. A method for generating a global link structure, comprising:

navigating to a first page of the website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a first default pointer to a first default page;

navigating to a desired page of the website;

designating the desired page as the global page of the website;

navigating to the first page of the website;

generating a first global pointer to the global page at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website;

moving the cursor to a link on the second page, wherein the link on the second page includes a second default pointer to a second default page; and

generating a second global pointer to the global page at the link on the second page.

50. The method of claim 49, wherein generating a first global pointer and generating a second global pointer each comprise selecting a choice from a pop-up menu.

51. The method of claim 49, wherein the choice is at least one of:

a choice for requesting generation of a local pointer, a choice for generating a local pointer, a choice for requesting generation of a global page, and a choice for generating a global page.

52. The method of claim 49, further comprising determining the desired page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.

53. A computer program product, comprising a computer usable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer code having an algorithm for implementing a method of generating a local link structure, said method including the steps of:

requesting generation of a local pointer;

navigating to a first page of a website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a default pointer to a default page;

generating the local pointer at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website; and

designating the second page as a local page pointed to by the local pointer.

54. The computer program product of claim 53, said method further comprising determining the second page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.

55. A computer program product, comprising a computer usable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer code having an algorithm for implementing a method of generating a local link structure, said method including the steps of:

navigating to a first page of a website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a default pointer to a default page;

generating a local pointer at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website; and

designating the second page as a local page pointed to by the local pointer.

56. The computer program product of claim 55, said method further comprising determining the second page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said web sites.

57. A computer program product, comprising a computer usable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer code having an algorithm for implementing a method of generating a global link structure, said method including the steps of:

requesting generation of a global page of a website;

navigating to a desired page of the website;

designating the desired page as the global page of the website;

navigating to a first page of the website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a first default pointer to a first default page;

generating a first global pointer to the global page at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website;

moving the cursor to a link on the second page, wherein the link on the second page includes a second default pointer to a second default page; and

generating a second global pointer to the global page at the link on the second page.

58. The computer program product of claim 57, said method further comprising determining the desired page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.

59. A computer program product, comprising a computer usable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer code having an algorithm for implementing a method of generating a global link structure, said method including the steps of:

navigating to a first page of the website;

moving a cursor to a link on the first page, wherein the link on the first page includes a first default pointer to a first default page;

navigating to a desired page of the website;

designating the desired page as the global page of the website;

navigating to the first page of the website;

generating a first global pointer to the global page at the link on the first page;

navigating to a second page of the website;

moving the cursor to a link on the second page, wherein the link on the second page includes a second default pointer to a second default page; and

generating a second global pointer to the global page at the link on the second page.

60. The computer program product of claim 59, said method further comprising determining the desired page of the website through using historical frequency-of-use data for websites visited in the past by at least one user of said websites.
