1. A method of operating an information handling system (IHS) comprising:
- storing, by the IHS, a plurality of display states including a previous display state;
storing, by the IHS, respective display configurations for the plurality of display states;
detecting, by the IHS, a display change event in which the display state of the IHS changes to a current display state;
determining, by the IHS, if the current display state is the same as a previous display state, and assuming, by the IHS, the display configuration associated with the previous display state if the current display state is the same as the previous display state.

Abstract
An information handling system (IHS) is provided wherein the user need not input display configuration information each time a display change is made. The IHS saves display state information that includes which combinations of displays, both active and inactive, have been previously attached to the IHS. Display configuration information is stored in nonvolatile memory for each display state that has been previously encountered by the IHS. After a display change event, if the current display state is the same as a previous display state, then the configuration information associated with the previously display state is retrieved from memory and used to configure the displays currently connected to the IHS.

a video driver stored in the nonvolatile storage for detecting a display change event in which the display state of the IHS changes to a current display state, the executable code determining if the current display state is the same as a previous display state, the IHS assuming the display configuration associated with the previous display state if the current display state is the same as the previous display state.
