Abstract

The present invention relates to process and methods, as well as compositions and systems for use in laundering smoke-damaged garments. In particular, the present invention utilizes ozonated water to treat the smoke-damaged garments.

Claims

1. A method for restoring smoke-damaged garments, comprising:

(a) forming an ozonated water composition comprising water, ozone, and additives; and

,

(b) contacting the ozonated water composition with at least one smoke-damaged garment.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the water is at a temperature ranging between 35°

F. and 69°

F.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the water is at a temperature of approximately 55°

F.

4. The method of claim 1, comprising:

forming ozonated water by mixing ozone with water.

5. The method at claim 1, wherein the ozone is added to the water in an amount equal to between 0.550 ppm and 0.750 ppm.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the method comprises:

(a) rinsing the garments;

(b) washing the garments; and

,

(c) extracting the garments.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the additives are selected from the group consisting d-limoline based solvent, alkali builder, surfactant, bleach, odor controller, and sour and soften agent.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein steps (a) and (b) are each, conducted for an amount of time ranging between 30 seconds and 10 minutes.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein each of the steps can be repeated at least once.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the additives are added in an amount equal to between about 0.5 oz. additive/10 lbs. of garments and about 3 oz. additive/10 lbs. of garments.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the additives are selected from the group consisting of cold water detergents and solvents.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the ozone is formed using a pre-charged tank having between 500 mV and 800 mV ORP.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the ozone is mixed with the water into a vortex with a mixer motor.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the method for mixing the ozone with the water is selected from the group consisting of bubbling, side arm, direct injection, and precharged tank.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein the additives are selected from the group consisting of detergents, surfactants, solvents, bleach, and sour.

16. A method of using ozonated water to restore smoke-damaged garments, comprising:

(a) obtaining the smoke-damaged garments;

(b) forming an ozonated water composition comprising water, ozone, and additives; and

,

(c) washing the garments with the ozonated water composition.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the water is at a temperature ranging between 35°

F. and 69°

F.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the ozone is added in an amount equal to between 0.550 ppm and 0.750 ppm.

19. The method of claim 16, wherein the method comprises the following steps:

(a) rinsing the garments;

(b) washing the garments; and

,

(c) extracting the garments.

43. A method for restoring smoke-damaged garments, comprising:

(a) forming ozonated water comprising water and ozone;

(b) obtaining smoke-damaged garments;

(c) rinsing the garments;

(d) contacting the garments with the ozonated water;

(e) mixing additives with the ozonated water and the garments; and

,

(f) extracting the garments.

44. The method of claim 43, wherein the additives are selected from the group consisting of d-limoline based solvent, alkali builder, surfactant, bleach, odor controller, and sour and soften agent.

45. The method of claim 43, wherein each of steps (c) through (f) is conducted for an amount of time ranging between 30 seconds and 10 minutes.

46. The method of claim 43, wherein each of the steps can be repeated at least once.

47. The method of claim 43, wherein the additives are added in an amount equal to between about 0.5 oz. additive/10 lbs. of garments and about 3 oz. additive/10 lbs. of garments.
