Abstract

A method for reproducing video contents includes the steps of: selecting a reproduction shot from video contents, based on a current location information and a shot index information; determining a reproduction section from the selected reproduction shot; and reproducing the determined reproduction section. After the determined reproduction section is reproduced, the above processes are repeated to next reproduction shots. The repetitive processes are performed all over the video contents until the user requests a reproduction change.

Claims

1. A method for reproducing video contents, comprising the steps of:

selecting a reproduction shot from video contents, based on a current location information and a shot index information;

determining a reproduction section from the selected reproduction shot; and

reproducing the determined reproduction section.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein in case of a forward reproduction, the reproduction section is determined at a first half of the selected reproduction shot.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein in case of a reverse reproduction, the reproduction section is determined at a second half of the selected reproduction shot.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the shot index information is generated from the video contents and is stored.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the selected reproduction shot is a shot that is closest from the current location among shots that are more than a predetermined threshold value.

6. A method for reproducing video contents, comprising the steps of:

a) selecting a reproduction shot from video contents, based on a current location information and a shot index information;

b) reproducing the selected reproduction shot as much as a predetermined reproduction section; and

c) repeating the steps a) and b) with respect to the video contents.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the shot index information is generated from the video contents and is stored.

8. The method according to claim 6, wherein the selected reproduction shot is a shot that is closest from the current location among shots that are more than a predetermined threshold value.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein in case of a forward reproduction, the closest shot is selected after the current location.

10. The method according to claim 8, wherein in case of a reverse reproduction, the closest shot is selected before the current location.

11. The method according to claim 8, wherein the threshold value is set from a system or a user.

12. The method according to claim 6, wherein the reproduction section is determined at a first half or a second half of the selected reproduction shot according to a directionality of a user'"'"'s searching request.

13. The method according to claim 6, wherein in the step c), an end time of a previously reproduced section is used as a current location information.

14. The method according to claim 6, wherein the step c) is continuously performed according to a progress direction of a previously reproduced shot.

15. The method according to claim 6, wherein the step c) is performed all over the video contents.

16. The method according to claim 6, wherein the step c) is stopped in response to a users'"'"' reproduction change request.

17. A video reproducing apparatus comprising:

an input unit for inputting a user'"'"'s searching request;

a control unit for selecting a reproduction shot satisfying predetermined conditions from video contents according to the searching request, based on a current location information and a shot index information, and controlling to execute an operation of reproducing a predetermined reproduction section of the selected reproduction shot all over the video contents;

a media storage unit for storing the video contents, the video contents being provided to the control unit;

an index storage unit for storing the shot index information, the shot index information being provided to the control unit; and

a display unit for displaying the video contents reproduced from the control unit.

18. The video reproducing apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the reproduction shot satisfying the predetermined conditions is a shot that is closest from the current location among shots, which are more than a predetermined threshold value.

19. The video reproducing apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the reproduction section is determined at a first half or a second half of the selected reproduction shot according to a directionality of the user'"'"'s searching request.

20. The video reproducing apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the shot index information is generated from the video contents.
