6. A network element for a GMPLS-controlled transmission network, said network element comprising a GMPLS controller connectable to a dedicated data network;
- said controller being adapted and programmed to determine in the case of a failure which other network elements in the transmission network are affected by the failure, to rank all affected network elements according to locally available information, to wait until all higher-ranked network elements have finished restoration and to send restoration requests only after all higher-ranked network elements have finished restoration.
