the plurality of communication links being arranged to communicate data packets between the network elements, wherein the shared-access bus protocol comprises of one of CAN, LIN, J1850, TTP, Flexrat and MOST bus protocols.

16. A method of providing communications within a vehicle comprising:

providing within the vehicle a plurality of network elements;
communicatively coupling the plurality of network elements using a plurality of communication links, at least a portion of which are shared access communication links comprising one of TTP, CAN, LIN, Flexray. J1850 and MOST bus protocols;
