Abstract

A security-to-entity crosswalk system and method link business entity information to financial security information to provide risk insight about the business entity associated with a given security. The system comprises a collection of financial securities data, a collection of business entity data, and an integration component. The integration component links the collection of financial securities data with the collection of business entity data into a collection of master data. A business entity identifier is appended to an issuing entity in a collection of data. The business entity identifier is linked to a financial security identifier in the collection of data. Business information associated with said issuing entity is provided.

Claims

1. A system for a security-to-entity crosswalk, comprising:

a collection of financial securities data;

a collection of business entity data; and

an integration component to link said collection of financial securities data with said collection of business entity data into a collection of master data.

2. The system according to claim 1, further comprising:

an access component to access said collection of master data.

3. The system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a management component to manage said collection of master data.

4. The system according to claim 1, further comprising:

an update component to update said collection of master data.

5. The system according to claim 1, wherein said collection of financial securities data comprises at least two collections of data.

6. The system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a linkage maintenance component to update linkage in said collection of master data.

7. The system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a unique numbering system associated with said collection of master data.

8. The system according to claim 1, wherein said collection of master data comprises a security-to-entity master file.

9. The system according to claim 8, wherein said security-to-entity master file comprises a plurality of instruments linked to a plurality of issuer entities, a plurality of corresponding business entity identifiers, and corporate family tree linkage information.

10. The system according to claim 8, wherein said security-to-entity master file comprises a database of security identifiers that cross-references issues.

11. A method for a security-to-entity crosswalk, comprising:

appending a business entity identifier to an issuing entity in a collection of data;

linking said business entity identifier to a financial security identifier in said collection of data; and

providing business information associated with said issuing entity.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein said appending said business entity identifier to said issuing entity is performed at a site level.

13. The method according to claim 11, wherein said business information is selected from the group consisting of:

corporate structure, corporate family tree linkage, standardized names and addresses, corporate activity, and changes to corporate structure.

14. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

providing said business entity identifier on securities.

15. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

detecting changes in said collection of data;

updating said collection of data; and

maintaining said collection of data.

16. The method according to claim 15, wherein said detecting changes in, updating, and maintaining said collection of data are performed periodically.

17. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

matching said business entity identifier to said issuing entity.

18. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

appending a selection of said business information associated with said issuing entity in said collection of data.

19. A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for performing a method for a security-to-entity crosswalk, comprising:

appending a business entity identifier to an issuing entity in a collection of data;

linking said business entity identifier to a financial security identifier in said collection of data; and

providing business information associated with said issuing entity.
