Abstract

To provide a high throughput film deposition means for film depositing an organic EL material made of polymer accurately and without any positional shift. A pixel portion is divided into a plurality of pixel rows by a bank, and a head portion of a thin film deposition apparatus is scanned along a pixel row to thereby simultaneously apply a red light emitting layer application liquid, a green light emitting layer application liquid, and a blue light emitting layer application liquid in stripe shapes. Heat treatment is then performed to thereby form light emitting layers luminescing each of the colors red, green, and blue.

47. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

an electroluminescence layer provided over said substrate;

a cover material;

a seal material provided between said substrate and said cover material for sealing said electroluminescence layer between said substrate and said cover material; and

a drying agent provided in said seal material.

48. A device according to claim 47 further comprising a switching TFT provided over said substrate.

49. A device according to claim 48 further comprising a current controlling TFT having a gate electrode connected to one of source and drain regions of said switching TFT.

50. A device according to claim 49 wherein one of source and drain regions of said current controlling TFT is connected to said electroluminescence layer.

51. A device according to claim 47 wherein said electroluminescence layer comprises an organic material.

52. A device according to claim 47 wherein said electroluminescence layer comprises a material selected from the group consisting of polyparaphenylene vinylene-based material, polyvinyl carbazole-based material, polyfluorenes-based material, cyano-paraphenylene vinylene, paraphenylene vinylene and polyphenylene vinylene and polyalkylphenylene.

53. A device according to claim 47 wherein said cover material comprises a material selected from the group consisting of Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastics, polyvinyl fluoride, polyester, plastic and ceramic.

54. A device according to claim 47 wherein said display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a video camera, an image playback device provided with a recording medium, a mobile computer, a personal computer, a portable telephone and an audio reproducing device.

55. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

an electroluminescence layer provided over said substrate;

a cover material;

a seal material provided between said substrate and said cover material for sealing said electroluminescence layer between said substrate and said cover material;

a drying agent provided in said seal material; and

an inert gas provided in a space formed by said substrate and said cover material and said seal material.

56. A device according to claim 55 further comprising a switching TFT provided over said substrate.

57. A device according to claim 56 further comprising a current controlling TFT having a gate electrode connected to one of source and drain regions of said switching TFT.

58. A device according to claim 57 wherein one of source and drain regions of said current controlling TFT is connected to said electroluminescence layer.

59. A device according to claim 55 wherein said electroluminescence layer comprises an organic material.

60. A device according to claim 55 wherein said electroluminescence layer comprises a material selected from the group consisting of polyparaphenylene vinylene-based material, polyvinyl carbazole-based material, polyfluorenes-based material, cyano-paraphenylene vinylene, paraphenylene vinylene and polyphenylene vinylene and polyalkylphenylene.

61. A device according to claim 55 wherein said cover material comprises a material selected from the group consisting of Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastics, polyvinyl fluoride, polyester, plastic and ceramic.

62. A device according to claim 55 wherein said inert gas comprises a gas selected from the group consisting of nitric gas and rare gas.

63. A device according to claim 55 wherein said display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a video camera, an image playback device provided with a recording medium, a mobile computer, a personal computer, a portable telephone and an audio reproducing device.

64. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

an electroluminescence layer provided over said substrate;

a cover material;

a seal material provided between said substrate and said cover material for sealing said electroluminescence layer between said substrate and said cover material;

a drying agent provided in said seal material; and

a current controlling TFT provided over said substrate and comprising a source region and a drain region and a channel region and a gate insulating film and a gate electrode and an LDD region,

wherein said channel region is provided between said source region and said drain region,

said gate insulating film is provided between said channel region and said gate electrode,

said LDD region is provided between said channel region and one of said source region and said drain region,

said LDD region overlaps with said gate electrode, and

one of said source region and said drain region is connected with said electroluminescence layer.

65. A device according to claim 64 further comprising a switching TFT provided over said substrate wherein one of a source region and a drain region of said switching TFT is connected with said gate electrode of said current controlling TFT.

66. A device according to claim 64 wherein said electroluminescence layer comprises an organic material.

67. A device according to claim 64 wherein said electroluminescence layer comprises a material selected from the group consisting of polyparaphenylene vinylene-based material, polyvinyl carbazole-based material, polyfluorenes-based material, cyano-paraphenylene vinylene, paraphenylene vinylene and polyphenylene vinylene and polyalkylphenylene.

68. A device according to claim 64 wherein said cover material comprises a material selected from the group consisting of Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastics, polyvinyl fluoride, polyester, plastic and ceramic.

69. A device according to claim 64 wherein said display device is incorporated into one selected from the group consisting of a video camera, an image playback device provided with a recording medium, a mobile computer, a personal computer, a portable telephone and an audio reproducing device.
