Abstract

A mobile station-based locator system is disclosed including a GPS-enabled mobile station in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network. The mobile station may include a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card configured to notify a subscriber when the mobile station is near a forbidden zone.

Claims

1. A mobile station-based locator system comprising:

a GPS-enabled mobile station in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network, the mobile station including a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card;

a subscriber in network communication with said wireless network; and

said SIM card being configured to notify said subscriber when the mobile station is near a forbidden zone.

2. The locator system of claim 1, further comprising a subscriber terminal for viewing the location of said mobile station over the Internet.

3. The locator system of claim 1, wherein said wireless network further comprises a switching system configured to store coordinates of said forbidden zone.

4. The locator system of claim 3, wherein said forbidden zone is pre-defined by the subscriber.

5. The locator system of claim 4, wherein said subscriber may define said forbidden zone using a web page provided by said wireless network.

6. The locator system of claim 5, wherein said subscriber may enter a forbidden zone as a physical address.

7. The locator system of claim 6, wherein the system is configured to convert said physical address into location coordinates.

8. The locator system of claim 7, wherein said system queries the location of said mobile station, and alert the subscriber if the mobile station arrives at location coordinates corresponding to said address.

9. The locator system of claim 6, wherein said subscriber is allowed to associate a time element with one of said addresses.

10. The locator system of claim 9, wherein said subscriber is notified if the mobile station arrives at said address at a specified time.

11. A mobile station-based locator system comprising:

a GPS-enabled mobile station means in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network, the mobile station including Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card means;

a subscriber in network communication with said wireless network; and

said SIM card means including means for notifying said subscriber when the mobile station is near a forbidden zone.

12. The locator system of claim 11, further comprising subscriber terminal means for viewing the location of said mobile station over the Internet.

13. The locator system of claim 11, wherein said wireless network further comprises means for storing coordinates of said forbidden zone.

14. The locator system of claim 13, further comprising means for pre-defining said forbidden zone by the subscriber.

15. The locator system of claim 14, wherein means for pre-defining said forbidden zone comprises a web page provided by said wireless network.

16. The locator system of claim 15, wherein said subscriber may enter a forbidden zone as a physical address.

17. The locator system of claim 16, further comprising means for converting said physical address into location coordinates.

18. The locator system of claim 17, further comprising means for querying the location of said mobile station, and alerting the subscriber if the mobile station arrives at location coordinates corresponding to said address.

19. The locator system of claim 16, further comprising means for associating a time element with one of said addresses.

20. The locator system of claim 19, further comprising means for notifying the subscriber if the mobile station arrives at said address at a specified time.
