Abstract

A locator system is disclosed. The system may include a GPS-enabled remote mobile station in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network. The remote mobile station may include RF connectivity, such as Bluetooth connectivity. The system includes RF transceivers deployed about a location. The remote mobile station may then obtain location information from the RF transceivers when GPS signals are unavailable. The RF transceivers may include Bluetooth connectivity.

Claims

1. A locator system comprising:

a GPS-enabled remote mobile station in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network, the remote mobile station including RF connectivity;

a plurality of RF transceivers deployed about a location;

the remote mobile station being configured to obtain location information from one of said plurality of RF transceivers when GPS signals are unavailable.

2. The locator system of claim 1, wherein said remote mobile station sends said location information to a subscriber mobile station.

3. The locator system of claim 2, wherein said RF connectivity comprises Bluetooth connectivity.

4. The locator system of claim 3, wherein said mobile station further comprises a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, and said SIM card is configured to obtain location information from one of said plurality of RF transceivers when GPS signals are unavailable.

5. The locator system of claim 4, wherein said SIM card is further configured to transmit location data to a subscriber when nearing forbidden zones as pre-defined by the subscriber.

6. The locator system of claim 5, wherein said mobile station is further configured to generate and transmit said location information without intervention from the user of said mobile station.

7. The locator system of claim 3, wherein said remote mobile station is configured to store location information when wireless service is unavailable.

8. The locator system of claim 7, wherein said remote mobile station is configured to transmit said stored location information when wireless service becomes available.

9. A locator system comprising:

GPS-enabled remote mobile station means in communication with a E911-enabled wireless network, the remote mobile station including RF connectivity;

a plurality of RF transceiver means deployed about a location; and

the remote mobile station comprising means for obtaining location information from one of said plurality of RF transceiver means when GPS signals are unavailable.

10. The locator system of claim 9, wherein said remote mobile station comprises means for sending said location information to a subscriber mobile station.

11. The locator system of claim 10, wherein said RF connectivity comprises Bluetooth connectivity.

12. The locator system of claim 11, wherein said mobile station further comprises a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, and said SIM card comprising means for sensing and automatically utilizing a secondary location method when GPS signals are unavailable.

13. The locator system of claim 12, wherein said SIM card further comprises means for transmitting location data to a subscriber when nearing forbidden zones as pre-defined by the subscriber.

14. The locator system of claim 13, wherein said remote mobile station further comprises means for generating and transmitting said location information without intervention from the user of said remote mobile station.

15. The locator system of claim 11, wherein said remote mobile station comprises means for storing location information when wireless service is unavailable.

16. The locator system of claim 15, wherein said remote mobile station comprises means for transmitting said stored location information when wireless service becomes available.
