1. A mouthpiece for a personal hydration system having a fluid supply tube, the mouthpiece comprising:
- a hollow body portion having a first opening with a first area at a first end configured to engage the fluid supply tube in a substantially leak-free manner, and a second opening with a second area larger than the first area at a second end;
a removable valve cap portion coupled to the body portion in a substantially leak-free manner and having a diaphragm adjacent the second opening;
a slit through the diaphragm configured to substantially oppose passage of fluid in a first position and to permit passage of fluid in a second position.

Abstract
A mouthpiece is provided for a personal hydration system having a fluid supply tube. The mouthpiece includes a hollow body having a first opening with a first area at a first end to engage the fluid supply tube in a substantially leak-free manner, and a second opening with a second area larger than the first area at a second end. A removable valve cap is coupled to the body in a substantially leak-free manner and includes a diaphragm adjacent the second opening. A slit through the diaphragm permits passage of fluid when the slit is in a first position and opposes passage of fluid when the slit is in a second position.

16. A mouthpiece for a personal hydration system to provide fluid to a user, comprising:

a first portion having a first opening at a first end for receiving a liquid, and a second opening at a second end;
a second portion having a wall configured to substantially surround the first portion proximate the second end and a diaphragm substantially perpendicular to the wall and configured to cover the second end;
a linear aperture having adjacent sides extending at least partially across the diaphragm, the adjacent sides configured to contact one another when the second portion is not in use by the user to substantially prevent fluid flow and the adjacent sides configured to separate to form an opening configured to permit fluid flow to the user; and

26. A flow regulating device for controlling the delivery of fluid from a reservoir to a user, comprising:

a hollow body having an inlet end configured for attachment to a tube to receive fluid from the reservoir and an outlet end;
a valve having a side wall and an end wall, and coupled to the outlet end of the body;
a reclosable aperture in the end wall configured to open in a fishmouth profile when the valve is activated by the user; and
