Automatic injection device with reset feature
First Claim
1. A method injecting a medication comprising the steps of:
- a. providing an injection device that is adapted to contain a reservoir containing multiple doses of the medication;
b. dialing up a dose of medication by rotating a member on the device in a first direction;
c. storing energy in the devices as the dose is dialed up;
d. dialing the dose down to a reduced level by rotating the member in a second direction;
e. releasing the energy stored in the device and transferring the energy to the reservoir to drive the reduced dose from the reservoir.

Abstract
The present invention relates to a dose setting and expelling device comprising a drive member and a dose setting mechanism which simultaneously sets a given dose and stores the energy necessary for a subsequently driving the drive member in order to expel a dose of medicine from an injection device. According to the invention the dose setting mechanism allows adjustment in both directions, such that a given set dose can be reduced or cancelled by reversing the input motion, typically by rotating a setting member backwardly, this in contrast to the known devices which either requires an additional release mechanism or which cannot be reversed at all.

2. A method of assisting a patient in injecting medication, the method comprising the steps of:
-
a. instructing the patient to use a medication delivery device having a reservoir containing multiple doses of a medication and a drive system that uses stored energy that is inputted by the patient to drive the medication from the device;
b. instructing the patient to dial up a dose by rotating a member on the device in a first direction;
c. instructing the patient that the dose may be reduced by rotating the member in a second direction;
d. instructing the patient to press a release on the device which will release energy that is stored in the device during the dialing up of a dose and will be released in a manner to drive at least some of the medication from the reservoir.

3. A method of treating an illness that requires self injection of medication, the method comprising:
-
a. providing the patient with an injection device that is capable of holding multiple doses of a medication;
b. providing an energy storage within the device to store energy inputted from the patient;
c. providing a member that when moved in a first direction increases dose size and when moved in a second direction decreases dose sizw;
d. providing a release member on the device to release energy from the energy storage;
e. providing a connection between the energy storage and the reservoir so that the energy, when released from storage acts on the medication in the reservoir and expels some of it from the reservoir.
