1. An electrochemical sensor for determining a presence or a concentration of an analyte in a fluid, the sensor comprising:

  • a working electrode comprising a conductive material; and

a reference electrode comprising a conductive material, wherein the sensor is configured such that a bias potential can be applied between the working electrode and the reference electrode at a level such that the working electrode measures the concentration of the analyte and produces oxygen in a reaction with water or another electroactive species in the fluid.
