1. One or more computer-readable media having stored thereon a plurality of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a computer, causes the one or more processors to perform acts including:
- receiving an image;
searching one or more areas of the image for red pixels;
combining red pixels together into one or more groups, with adjacent red pixels being combined into the same group;
filtering the groups based on a set of rules, resulting in zero or more candidate red-eye regions; and
classifying each of the candidate red-eye regions as being either part of an eye or not part of an eye.

Abstract
Red-eye detection based on red region detection with eye confirmation initially identifies pixels that correspond to the color of red-eye within an image. A determination is then made as to whether these identified pixels and surrounding areas are part of an eye or not part of an eye. Those identified pixels that are determined to be part of an eye are the detected red-eye regions.

means for searching one or more areas of an image for red pixels;
means for combining red pixels together into one or more groups, with adjacent red pixels being combined into the same group;
means for filtering the groups based on a set of rules, resulting in zero or more candidate red-eye regions; and

31. A system comprising:
-
a first module to search one or more areas of an image for red pixels, to combine red pixels together into one or more groups, with adjacent red pixels being combined into the same group, and to filter the groups based on a set of rules, resulting in zero or more candidate red-eye regions; and
a second module to classify each of the candidate red-eye regions as being either part of an eye or not part of an eye. - View Dependent Claims (32, 33)
