A balloon catheter comprising a catheter, the catheter having a proximal portion, a central portion and a distal portion, and a medical balloon positioned on the distal portion of the catheter, the balloon catheter being coated with a first coating and a second coating, wherein the first coating comprising a polymer network comprises a hydrogel polymer and a vinyl polymer and the second coating comprising a polymer network comprising a hydrogel polymer and a vinyl polymer, the first coating having a higher percentage of high molecular weight hydrogel polymer than the second coating, wherein the medical balloon is at least partially coated with the second coating and the catheter is at least partially coated with the first coating.
