Abstract

A device and method for regulating the speed of a vehicle during maneuvering/parking of the vehicle. The device may comprise a detection device for detecting objects within the surrounding area of the vehicle and for recording the distance to an object lying closest in the travel direction of the vehicle; a regulator for regulating the speed of the vehicle as a function of the position of an actuating device and of the distance to the most proximate object in the movement direction of the vehicle according to a predefined speed/distance relation; and a control device for automatically controlling a braking element and a driving device of the vehicle as a function of a corresponding output signal of the regulator.

Claims

1. A device for regulating a speed of a vehicle during maneuvering/parking of the vehicle, comprising:

a detection device configured to detect an object in a surrounding area of the vehicle and to record a distance to a most proximate object in a travel direction of the vehicle;

a regulator configured to regulate a speed of the vehicle as a function of a position of an actuating device and the distance to the most proximate object in the travel direction of the vehicle, according to a predefined speed/distance relation; and

a control device configured to automatically control a braking element and a driving device of the vehicle as a function of a corresponding output signal of the regulator.

2. The device as recited in claim 1, wherein the detection device includes at least one of ultrasound sensors, radar sensors, and lidar sensors.

3. The device as recited in claim 2, wherein at least one of the ultrasound sensors, the radar sensors, and the lidar sensors are provided at one of a front of the vehicle and a back of the vehicle.

4. The device as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

an energizing arrangement configured to activate the regulator, the energizing arrangement configured to be activated at least one of manually and semi-automatically, during manual shifting into a reverse drive step of the driving device.

5. The device as recited in claim 1, wherein the actuating device includes an automatically retracting neutral position and one of a driving pedal or an accelerator.

7. The device as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

a display device to provide at least one of a visual and acoustical display, of the distance to the most proximate object in the travel direction of the vehicle.

6. The device as recited in claim 6, wherein the actuating device includes angular position detection.

8. A method for regulating a speed of a vehicle during maneuvering/parking of the vehicle, comprising:

detecting objects within a surrounding area of the vehicle and recording a distance between a most proximate object to the vehicle in a travel direction and the vehicle, using a detection device;

regulating, using a regulator, a speed of the vehicle while maintaining a first predefined distance to the most proximate object in the travel direction, as a function of a position of an actuating device and of the distance to the most proximate object in the travel direction of the vehicle according to a predefined speed/distance relation; and

controlling a braking element and a driving device of the vehicle as a function of a corresponding output signal of the regulator, using a control device.

9. The method as recited in claim 8, further comprising:

changing, as a function of a position of the actuating device, a setpoint speed of the vehicle following activation of the regulator during maneuvering, up to a second predefined distance to the most proximate object in the travel direction, the second predefined distance being one of greater than or equal to the first predefined distance.

10. The method as recited in claim 9, wherein the setpoint speed of the vehicle is changed in a range of 0 and 10 km/h.

11. The method as recited in claim 9, where the setpoint speed of the vehicle is changed as a function of an angle of the actuating device.

The method as recited in claim 9, wherein changing a position of the actuating device away from a neutral position following activation of the regulator and after attainment of a second predefined distance, the vehicle stopping automatically, continually further reduces the distance between the vehicle and the most proximate object in the travel direction, up to the first predefined distance.

13. The method as recited in claim 12, wherein the angle of the changing step includes changing an angle of the actuating device.

14. The method as recited in claim 12, wherein an actual distance between the first predefined distance and the second predefined distance is a function of the position of the actuator.

15. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein after activation of the regulator in a neutral position of the actuating device, the vehicle stops, a manual braking intervention being allowed at all times via a brake pedal.

16. The method as recited in claim 13, further comprising:

compensating an effect of inclines and slopes on the vehicle.

17. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein, after an activation of the regulator, the regulator utilizes stored characteristics fields to generate an instantaneous setpoint speed as a function of a position of the actuating device and the distance to a most proximate object in the travel direction.
