Abstract

A software application is provided designed to encourage collaboration between professional disciplines related to land development and construction projects. A graphical risk analysis system is provided based on answers to interdisciplinary questions related to risks. Use of the system promotes a complete checklist of interdisciplinary and informational consultation which, when completed, reduces the risk related to land development.

Claims

1. A method for generating a risks assessment for a project, the method comprising the steps of:

providing a system comprising;

a project database having at least one project,

a question database containing at least one question,

a risk database containing at least one risk,

and a contact database containing at least one contact;

selecting a project from the project database;

answering a question wherein the question relates to a project;

selecting a risk from the risk database related to the answer; and

viewing the risk.

2. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of providing:

a user database containing user identification information.

3. The method of claim 2 comprising the additional step of modifying the user identifying information.

4. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of providing a client database containing client identification information.

5. The method of claim 4 comprising the additional step of modifying the client identification information.

6. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of modifying the project.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the question database is organized according to disciplines.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein the disciplines are civil, site development, environmental, geotechnical, and structural.

9. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of modifying the question.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the risk database is organized according to disciplines.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein the disciplines are civil, site development, environmental, geotechnical, and structural.

12. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of modifying the risk.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein the contact database is organized according to disciplines.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the unique disciplines are civil, site development, environmental, geotechnical, and structural.

15. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of modifying the contact.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein the system further comprises a geoneering database comprising definitions about the question and the risk.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein the contact is assigned to a project.

18. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of providing an events database.

19. The method of claim 1 comprising the additional step of creating a report using information from the databases.

20. A system for generating a risks assessment for a project, the system comprising:

a project database having a project,

a question database having a question relating to the project;

a risk database having a risk;

a first dialog mechanism allowing for the selection of the project;

a second dialog mechanism for answering the question;

an association engine for associating the risk with the answer; and

a display for viewing the risk.

21. The system of claim 20 further comprising a graphical signal associated with the risk.

22. The system of claim 21 wherein a completed risk is associated with the graphical signal.

23. The system of claim 22 wherein the first graphical signal is a check mark.

24. The system of claim 22 wherein the first graphical signal is green.

25. The system of claim 21 wherein an incomplete risk is associated with the graphical signal.

26. The system of claim 25 wherein the graphical signal is a triangle.

27. The system of claim 25 wherein the graphical signal is yellow.

28. The system of claim 21 wherein the graphical signal further comprises a first icon associated with a completed risk and a second icon associated with any incomplete risk.

29. The system of claim 20 further comprising a URL associated with the question and linked to information related to the question.

30. The system of claim 20 further comprising a URL associated with the risk and linked to information related to the risk.

31. The system of claim 20 wherein the system is designed using WebSpeed®

software.

32. A system for generating a risks assessment for a project, the system comprising:

a project database having a project,

a question database having a question;

a risk database having a risk;

a contact database having a contact;

a first dialog box allowing for the selection of a project from the project database;

a second dialog box for answering a question from the question database wherein the question relates to the selected project;

a processor for locating the risk from the risk database wherein the risk is related to the answer, and for locating the contact from the contact database wherein the contact is related to the risk; and

a third dialog box for viewing the risk and the contact.

33. The system of claim 32 further comprising a graphical display associated with the risk.

34. The system of claim 33 wherein a completed risk and an uncompleted risk have different graphical displays.

35. The system of claim 34 wherein the first graphical displays are in color.

36. The system of claim 32 wherein the risk database is organized according to disciplines.

37. The system of claim 32 wherein the contact database is organized according to disciplines.

38. The system of claim 32 wherein the risk is associated with a discipline.

39. The system of claim 38 wherein the contact information includes an e-mail address.

40. A system for generating a risks assessment for a project, the system comprising:

a project database having a project,

a question database having a plurality of questions;

a risk database having a plurality of risks;

a contact database having a plurality of contacts;

a first selection tool allowing for the selection of a project from the project database;

a second selection tool allowing a question from the question database to be answered wherein the question relates to the selected project;

a database processor for locating a risk from the risk database related to the answer, a contact from the contact database related to the risk, and a graphical icon associated with the risk; and

a means for viewing the risk, the contact and the icon.

41. The system of claim 40 wherein the icon is a design.

42. The system of claim 40 wherein the icon is colored.

43. The system of claim 41 wherein a completed risk is associated with a second icon.

44. The system of claim 43 wherein the second icon is a design.

45. The system of claim 43 wherein the second icon is colored.

46. The system of claim 40 wherein the database processor generates an e-mail upon the question being answered.

47. The system of claim 46 wherein the e-mail is directed to one of the plurality of contacts.

48. A method for generating a risks assessment for a project, the method comprising:

creating a project database having at least one project;

creating a question database having at least one question with a question ID;

creating a risk database having at lease one risk with a risk ID;

storing the question ID in the project database;

answering the question;

determining a risk ID associated with the answer;

storing the risk ID in the project database; and

displaying a message associated with the risk ID.

49. The method of claim 48 further comprising generating a graphical analysis tool associated with the risk.

50. The method of claim 49 wherein the analysis tool allows for statistical mapping of a completed risk and an uncompleted risk.

51. The method of claim 48 wherein the risk database is organized according to technical professions.
