Electrical power conservation apparatus and method
First Claim
1. A power factor control apparatus for an inductive load powered by an AC circuit, comprising:
- a line for communicating alternating current flow at a voltage, between a source and an inductive load;
switch means for interrupting said alternating current flow through said line for a plurality of individual interruptions, during at least one of said positive and negative current oscillations; and
control means for controlling the number and duration said of plurality of individual interruptions to thereby reduce any difference in phase between said alternating current and said voltage.

Abstract
An electrical power control apparatus and method for power factor correction in a conventional 60 hertz or other conventional frequency electrical AC power supply communicated to an inductive load. A plurality of interruptions of current in the line on both sides of an AC current oscillation, are created to control the power factor in a circuit energizing an inductive load. Additional power factor control and correction is provided by grounding of the line during each interruption. A controller controls the length and duration of each interruption based on preprogramming or input regarding current phase read or calculated in the line.

19. A method of factor control for an inductive load on an AC circuit carrying AC power having negative and positive oscillations, comprising the steps of:
-
providing alternating current power having negative and positive oscillations, from a source through a line to an inductive load;
interrupting current flow though said line for a plurality of individual interruptions during each of said negative and positive oscillations;
grounding said line during said interruptions to remove residual electrical energy generated by load inductance; and
monitoring said line for the difference in phase between said alternating current and said voltage and continually adjusting the number and duration of said interruptions minimize the offset of current and voltage.

20. A method of factor control for an inductive load on a three phase AC circuit carrying AC power having negative and positive oscillations to an inductive load, comprising the steps of:
-
providing alternating current power having negative and positive oscillations, from a source through three lines to an inductive load;
interrupting current flow though each of said lines for a plurality of individual interruptions during each of said negative and positive oscillations;
