1. An implantable pump system comprising:

  • an implantable pump having a plurality of separate medication-storage chambers, at least one of which plurality of medication-storage chambers is coupled to a pump means that allows a programmable rate of delivery of medication stored in the corresponding medication-storage chamber, and wherein the other medication-storage chambers include means for delivery of a bolus via a pressurized, and independently programmable pumping mechanism;

    an external controller that enables the actuation of the pump means and pumping mechanism so as to administer a bolus or programmed rate of medications contained in the medication-storage chambers; and

    a catheter having a plurality of independent lumens, wherein each lumen is in fluid communication with a respective one of the plurality of separate medication-storage chambers, whereby, under control of the pump means and pumping mechanism, a medication stored in one of the plurality of separate medication-storage chambers may be controllably dispensed through at least one of the lumens of said catheter.
