Abstract

Systems and methods for information filtering in a roadway travel data exchange network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a travel data processing system may comprise, for example, a communication network. A mobile device may be communicatively coupled to the communication network. A collection system may collect first travel data, where the first travel data may comprise second travel data that is relevant to the mobile device. A filter system may analyze the first travel data to control the flow of at least a portion of the second travel data. A filter device may be communicatively coupled to the communication network and the filter device may comprise at least a portion of the filter system. The mobile device may comprise at least a portion of the filter system.

Claims

1. A travel data processing network, comprising:

a communication network;

a mobile device communicatively coupled to the communication network;

a collection system that collects first travel data;

the first travel data comprising second travel data that is relevant to the mobile device; and

a filter system that analyzes the first travel data to control the flow of at least a portion of the second travel data.

2. The travel data processing networking of claim 1, further comprising:

at least one filter device communicatively coupled to the communication network; and

the at least one filter device comprising at least a portion of the filter system.

3. The travel data processing networking of claim 1, wherein the mobile device comprising at least a portion of the filter system.

4. The travel data processing networking of claim 1, further comprising:

at least one filter device communicatively coupled to the communication network;

the at least one filter device comprising a first portion of the filter system; and

the mobile device comprising a second portion of the filter system.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the filter system uses known roadway information.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the filter system uses pedestrian velocity estimates.

7. A travel data processing system, comprising:

a communication network;

at least one mobile traffic participant communicatively coupled to the communication network, the at least one mobile traffic participant associated with travel data; and

at least one filter communicatively coupled to the communication network, the at least one filter operates on the travel data.

8. The system of claim 7 associated with a vehicle, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant comprises a device installed in the vehicle.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant provides the travel data.

10. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one filter uses known roadway information to perform filtering.

11. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one filter uses pedestrian velocity estimates to perform filtering.

12. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant collects at least a portion of the travel data.

13. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant transmits at least a portion of the travel data.

14. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant receives commands generated in response to the at least one filter.

15. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant receives at least a portion of the travel data.

16. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant displays at least a portion of the travel data.

17. The system of claim 7, wherein the at least one mobile traffic participant comprises at least a portion of the at least one filter.

18. The system of claim 7, wherein the travel data comprises location information.

19. The system of claim 7, wherein the travel data comprises velocity information.

20. A method for processing travel data for use with a plurality of mobile travel participants, the method comprising:

(a) receiving, from the plurality of mobile travel participants, travel data via a communication network;

(b) filtering the travel data to obtain filtered travel data, the filtered travel data represents relevant traffic information; and

(c) transmitting the filtered travel data to at least a portion of the plurality of mobile travel participants.

21. The method according to claim 20, wherein the filtering comprises selectively eliminating at least one portion of the travel data received, if the at least one portion is determined to be irrelevant based on at least one predetermined criteria.
