1. A switching device for routing an RF signal based on a control signal from a controller, comprising:
- first, second, and third filter networks, and a switch element coupled to the controller and between the first filter network and the second and third filter networks and configured to connect either the second or the third filter network to the first filter network based on the control signal; and
wherein parasitic components associated with the switch element and the first, second and third filter networks are integrated into one low-pass filter prototype structure.

Abstract
An RFID reader accessible thorough a personal computer and includes a PC card interface and a controller both operating according to clock signals from a crystal oscillator. The RFID reader further includes a linearized power amplifier modulator in a transmit path, a receive chain capable of demodulating either class_1 or class _0 signals from RFID tags, and an integrated switching device for selecting one of a plurality of antenna for transmitting or receiving RF signals.

15. A method for routing an RF signal, comprising:
-
generating a control signal;
connecting either a second filter network or a third filter network to a first filter network using a switch element receiving the control signal;
filtering the RF signal through the first filter network; and
filtering the RF signal through the second or third filter network that is connected to the first filter network by the switch element; and
wherein parasitic components associated with the switch element and the first, second and third filter networks are integrated into one low-pass filter prototype structure such that the RF signal going through the first filter network and the second or third filter network connected to the first filter network by the switch element is filtered by one low-pass filter.

16. A method for forming a switching element for routing RF signals:
-
providing first, second, and third filter networks;
providing a switch element coupled between the first filter network and the second and third filter networks, the switching element configured to select either the second or third filter network to be connected to the first filter network;
determining values of parasitic components associated with the switching element; and
adjusting component values in the first, second and third filter networks based on the values of the parasitic components such that the switching device functions as one low-pass filter prototype structure for the RF signals. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)
