1. A telephone controller apparatus connectable with two or more landline telephones, the apparatus comprising:
- a line-connection switch configured to establish a connection with a landline;
a processor configured to control a plurality of functions of the apparatus;
an off-hook detector connected to the processor;
a DTMF unit connected to the line-connection switch and to the processor;
a line interface circuit connected to the line-connection switch and to the processor; and
a dialer circuit connected to the line-connection switch and to the processor;
wherein, when a user of a landline telephone connected to the apparatus initiates an intercom function or a paging function and inputs an identification code of a called telephone connected to the apparatus;
the processor detects the identification code and sends a signal to at least the called telephone, the processor prevents the dialer circuit from being used make an external call, the signal from the processor causes a ring generator in the called telephone to start a ring cadence, and, when the off-hook detector detects an off-hook condition at the called telephone, the signal from the processor causes the ring generator in the called telephone to stop the ring cadence.

Abstract
A telephone controller, which is connectable with two or more landline telephones, is provided. When a user of a landline telephone connected to the apparatus initiates an intercom function or a paging function, a processor of the apparatus causes a signal to be sent to the landline telephones. The signal causes the landline telephones to ring. When an off-hook condition occurs at one of the landline telephones, the processor causes the ringing to stop.
