1. A method of operating a fuel-fired burner of an emission abatement assembly, the method comprising the steps of:
- advancing a flow of exhaust gas into a housing of the fuel-fired burner, and separating the flow of exhaust gas into (i) a combustion flow which is advanced through a combustion chamber of the fuel-fired burner, (ii) a bypass flow which is bypassed around the combustion chamber of the fuel-fired burner, wherein the combustion flow is about 70% or less of the flow of exhaust gas.

Abstract
A method of operating an emission abatement assembly includes separating the exhaust gas flow entering through the gas inlet port of the fuel-fired burner into a combustion flow which is advanced through the combustion chamber, and a bypass flow which bypasses the combustion chamber. An emission abatement assembly is also disclosed.

7. A fuel-fired burner of an emission abatement assembly, the fuel-fired burner comprising:
-
a housing having an exhaust gas inlet port, and a combustion chamber positioned in the housing, the combustion chamber comprising an outer wall having (i) a first wall half which faces away from an exhaust gas inlet port of the housing, and (ii) a second, opposite wall half which faces toward the exhaust gas inlet port of the housing, wherein (i) the first wall half has a first number of gas inlet openings which collectively define a first void area, (ii) the second wall half has a second number of gas inlet openings which collectively define a second void area, and (iii) the second void area is less than the first void area. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10)
