Abstract

A medical tool for dental treatments by means of a laser, the light guide of which runs in a hand piece. The light guide is provided with a laser module including power circuitry and a second laser module is provided with the first laser module, operating at a different wavelength.

18. A medical tool for dental treatment comprising a handpiece, a light guide in the hand piece, a first laser module with power circuitry connected to the light guide and a second laser module having a wavelength different from the first laser module.

19. The tool as claimed in claim 18, wherein the first laser module is a short-wavelength diode laser.

20. The tool as claimed in claim 19, wherein the first laser module has a wavelength of 750 to 1100 nm and a power of 1 to 10 W.

21. The tool as claimed in at least one of claims 18 through 20, wherein the second laser module is a long-wavelength erbium:

YAG laser.

22. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein the second laser module has a wavelength of 2500 to 3500 nm.

23. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein both laser modules are connected to the same light guide.

24. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein each laser module is connected to its own light guide, wherein both light guides run through the handpiece.

25. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein each laser module is connected to its own light guide in its own handpiece.

26. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein the first laser module comprises glass fibers as light guide.

27. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein the second laser module is assigned a hollow waveguide as light guide.

28. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein an optical element comprising at least two lenses is coupled to a connection line of the first laser module.

29. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein a line for a coolant is provided in the handpiece.

30. The tool as claimed in claim 18, wherein the handpiece is connected to a rear part in a releasable manner.

31. The tool as claimed in claim 30, wherein the rear part contains an optical element with the two lenses, a hollow waveguide, a line for coolant, and switch elements for the lasers and the coolant.

32. The tool as claimed in claim 21, wherein both laser modules are arranged together with an associated power circuitry and a control module in a housing.

33. The tool as claimed in claim 32, wherein a display and a touch screen are provided on the housing.

34. The tool as claimed in claim 30, wherein the rear part is connected to several handpieces having different light guides and coolant line combinations.
