1. A medical device, comprising:
- an elongate body;
a first retaining segment extending along a length of the body, forming a first fixed portion of an outer surface of the body and including a proximal end and a first plurality of projections extending from the first portion of the outer surface, each of the first plurality of projections including a terminal edge directed toward the proximal end; and
a second retaining segment extending along another length of the body, forming a second fixed portion of an outer surface of the body and including a distal end and a second plurality of projections extending from the second fixed portion of the outer surface, each of the second plurality of projections including a terminal edge directed toward the distal end;
wherein the first plurality of projections and the second plurality of projections are adapted to interfere with a wall of a generally tubular vessel to retain the body within the vessel.
