Abstract

A portable computer including a housing having first and second sections, the first section having an information input device and the second section having a case having a first fastening element; a display panel including a second fastening element at a rear surface of the panel, the case and the display panel being attached through the first and second fastening elements; a hinge coupling the first and the second sections to each other; and a display panel support member having a third fastening element, the display panel support member being attached to the display panel through the third fastening element.

56. A portable computer comprising:

a housing including first and second sections, the first section having an information input device and the second section having a case having a first fastening element;

a display panel including a second fastening element at a rear surface of the display panel, the case and the display panel being attached through the first and second fastening elements;

a hinge coupling the first and the second sections to each other; and

a display panel support member between the case and the display panel having a third fastening element, the display panel support member being attached to the display panel through the third fastening element, and the fastening elements being behind the display panel.

57. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the display panel support member is attached to the display panel through the first and third fastening elements.

58. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the display panel support member includes:

a first support element extending in one direction; and

a second support element extending in a second direction.

59. The portable computer according to claim 58, wherein at least one of the first and second support elements includes a fastening hole.

60. The portable computer according to claim 58, wherein the display panel support member has a shape of letter “

F.”

61. The portable computer according to claim 58, wherein the first support element is substantially perpendicular to the second support element.

62. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the display support member includes an arm extending upward.

63. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm extends at adjacent edge portions of the second section.

64. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm extends substantially to a top portion of the second section.

65. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm includes a fastening hole at a portion of the arm, the display panel being attached to the arm through the fastening hole of the arm.

66. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm has an “

L”

shape.

67. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm has a “

C”

shape.

68. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm has an “

E”

shape.

69. The portable computer according to claim 62, wherein the arm has three sections forming an “

H”

shape.

70. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the hinge is in the first section of the housing.

71. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the hinge is in the second section of the housing.

72. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the first fastening element includes a fastening hole.

73. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the second fastening element includes a fastening hole.

74. The portable computer according to claim 56, further comprising a screw attaching the display panel to the second section through the first and second fastening elements.

75. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the first and second fastening elements include first and second fastening holes, respectively, by the display panel is attached to the case through the first and second fastening elements by a screw.

76. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the display panel support member is coupled to the hinge.

77. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the first fastening element includes at least one fastening hole located at a corner of the second section.

78. The portable computer according to claim 77, wherein the first fastening element includes a fastening hole at each of two corners of the second section.

79. The portable computer according to claim 77, wherein the first fastening element includes four fastening holes each at a respective corner of the second section.

80. The portable computer according to claim 79, wherein the second fastening element includes at least one fastening hole located at a corner of the display panel corresponding to the fastening hole of the first fastening element.

81. The portable computer according to claim 80, wherein the second fastening element includes a fastening hole at each of two corners of the display panel.

82. The portable computer according to claim 80, wherein the second fastening element includes four fastening holes each at a respective corner of the display panel.

83. The portable computer according to claim 56, wherein the first fastening element and the second fastening element include a screw hole, and a screw is inserted from the rear of the case to fasten the case to the display panel.

84. The portable computer according to claim 83, wherein the screw hole of the case is located at a position corresponding to the display area of the display panel.

85. A portable computer comprising:

a housing including first and second sections, the first section having an information input device and the second section having a case having a first fastening element;

a display panel including a second fastening element at a rear surface of the display panel, the case and the display panel being attached through the first and second fastening elements;

a hinge coupling the first and the second sections to each other; and

a display panel support member between the case and the display panel including an arm extending upward and a third fastening element, the display panel support member being attached to the display panel through the first and third fastening elements,

wherein the arm includes a fastening hole at a portion of the arm, the display panel being attached to the arm through the fastening hole of the arm;

wherein the first and second fastening elements include first and second fastening holes, respectively, and the display panel is attached to the case through the first and second fastening elements by a screw;

wherein the display panel support member is coupled to the hinge; and

wherein the fastening elements are behind the display panel.

86. The portable computer according to claim 85, wherein no fastening element is visible when viewed from the viewing direction of the display panel.

87. The portable computer according to claim 85, wherein the second fastening element includes protruding portions protruding away from the display panel.

88. The portable computer according to claim 87, wherein the protruding portion includes a peg having a fastening hole.

89. A flat display panel device mounted to a housing comprising a front housing part and a rear housing part, the flat display panel device not being fixed to the front housing part, the flat display panel device comprising:

a first frame having a fastening part at a rear surface of the first frame;

a flat display panel; and

a second frame; and

wherein the flat display panel is between the first frame and the second frame, the first frame is fixed to the housing through the fastening part, wherein the fastening part is behind the flat display panel.

90. The flat display panel device according to claim 89, wherein the fastening part includes a fastening hole.

91. The flat display panel device according to claim 90, wherein the fastening part includes a fastening hole at each of two corners of the first frame.

92. The flat display panel device according to claim 90, wherein the fastening part includes four fastening holes each at a respective corner of the first frame.

93. The flat display panel device according to claim 89, further comprising:

a backlight unit;

a reflector unit adjacent the first frame;

a light source unit adjacent the reflector unit; and

a light guide unit adjacent the light source unit.

94. The flat display panel device according to claim 93, further comprising a diffuser unit and a prism unit.

95. The flat display panel device according to claim 89, wherein the flat display panel device only shows the flat display panel and the second frame when viewed from the viewing direction of the display.

96. The flat display panel device according to claim 89, wherein the fastening part includes a protruding portion protruding away from the flat display panel.

97. The flat display panel device according to claim 96, wherein the protruding portion includes a peg having a fastening hole.

98. The flat display panel device according to claim 96, wherein the protruding portion includes a first part and a second part, the first part being larger than the second part.

99. A flat display panel device comprising:

a first frame having at least one fastening part at a rear surface of the first frame;

a second frame; and

a flat display panel between the first and second frames;

wherein the at least one fastening part is behind the flat display panel;

wherein the first frame is fixed to a housing having a front housing part and a rear housing part with the at least one fastening part at the rear surface of the first frame; and

wherein the flat display panel device is not fixed to the front housing part.

100. The flat display panel device according to claim 99, wherein the at least one fastening part passes through the rear surface of the first frame.

101. The flat display panel device according to claim 100, wherein the at least one fastening part comprises:

a fastening hole; and

a screw wherein the screw passes through the fastening hole and through the rear surface of the first frame.

102. A flat display panel device comprising:

a first frame having at least one fastening part at a rear surface of the first frame;

a second frame; and

a flat display panel between the first and second frames, wherein the at least one fastening part is behind the flat display panel and the first frame is fixed to a rear portion of a housing with the at least one fastening part at the rear surface of the first frame and wherein the at least one fastening part passes through the rear surface of the first frame.

103. The flat display panel device according to claim 102, wherein the at least one fastening part comprises:

a fastening hole; and

a screw wherein the screw passes through the fastening hole and through the rear surface of the first frame.
