Abstract

Methods, data structures, and systems for tracking network events that occur across multiple platforms are disclosed. Entities may enter into business agreements for products and services to be conducted across different platforms and register the terms of those agreements with a tracking computer. The tracking computer can monitor network events and determine settlement amounts to be distributed between the entities involved in a given network event based on the terms of one or more agreements that may be stored in a database.

Claims

1. A method of tracking network events, comprising:

a. monitoring network events conducted across at least two different platforms; and

b. matching the monitored network events to sets of rules.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the rules include pricing parameters.

3. The method according to claim 2, when the rules further include settlement parameters.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the monitoring step comprises receiving an identification of a provider and an associated provided network event.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein the monitoring step further comprises receiving an identification of an end user associated with the provided network event.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the matching step comprises associating at least two entities involved in a network event to a set of rules.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the matching step further comprises determining a settlement between the at least two entities.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the network events include the transmission of advertisements to end users.

9. The method according to claim 1, wherein the network events include the transmission of electronic products to end users.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein the network events include the transmission of information to end users.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the network events involve at least two participating entities and the method further comprises determining settlement amounts between the participating entities.

12. The method of claim 1, further including transforming at least one network event into a business event.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the business event is at least one of a pay per use event, a pay per sale event and a revenue sharing event.

14. A computer-readable medium for use by a tracking computer that tracks network events, the computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for performing the steps comprising:

a. monitoring network events conducted across at least two different platforms; and

b. matching the monitored network events to sets of rules.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 14, further including computer-executable instructions for performing the step comprising transforming at least one network event into a business event.

16. A computer-readable medium having stored thereon a data structure comprising rules for interpreting network events conducted across at least two different platforms.

17. A system for tracking network events, the system comprising:

a computer that receives network event information from a first entity coupled to a first platform and a second entity coupled to a second platform that is different from the first platform;

wherein the computer includes computer-executable instructions for performing the steps of;

a. monitoring network events conducted across at least two different platforms; and

b. matching the monitored network events to sets of rules.
