23. A method of detecting a biological component in an analyte, comprising:

providing a biosensor arrangement having an enzyme electrode that includes, in the following order, a substrate with a surface roughness in the range of 20 nm to 10 microns, a metal electrode, an ultrathin semipermeable membrane with a thickness in the range of 10 nm to 100 nm, and at least one enzyme membrane;
supplying the analyte to at least the enzyme electrode; and
detecting a current from the metal electrode, the current indicative of the biological component.
