Abstract

The invention provides a method and system for handling a session setup procedure initiated by an user equipment for establishing a session of a specific type to a called entity, wherein a session setup request sent to a network entity for establishing the requested session, includes location information and an identifier for identifying the called entity. A database is provided which stores a list of location information and associated identifiers. The network entity accesses this database, wherein, when detecting that the identifier represents a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, the session set-up is continued in a manner appropriate for a session of the specific type.

29. A method for processing a session setup procedure initiated by an user equipment for establishing a session of a specific type to a called entity, wherein a session setup request sent to a network entity for establishing the requested session, includes location information and an identifier for identifying the called entity, the network entity accessing a database which comprises location information and associated identifiers, wherein, when detecting that the identifier represents a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, the session set-up is continued by sending a message to the user equipment for informing the user equipment that the identifier is an identifier for initiating a session of the specific type.

30. Method according to claim 29, wherein the database comprises an emergency table and is stored in the network entity.

31. Method of claim 29, wherein the location information informs about the location of the user equipment.

32. Method of claim 29, wherein the session setup request is sent by the user equipment.

33. Method according to claim 29, wherein the database contains an emergency table and is stored in another network entity accessible to the first-mentioned network entity.

34. Method according to claim 29, wherein the session of the specific type is an emergency session.

35. Method according to claim 29, wherein the user equipment is attached to a visited network, and the network entity accessing the database is part of a home network of the user equipment.

36. Method according to claim 29, wherein the network entity is a Call State Control Function (CSCF), preferably a Proxy Call State Control Function (P-CSCF).

37. Method according to claim 29, wherein the location information includes a mobile country code (MCC).

38. Method according to claim 29, wherein the location information includes a mobile network code (MNC).

39. Method according to claim 29, wherein when detecting that the identifier is an identifier for initiating a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, the session setup is continued by modifying the session set-up request and continuing the session setup as a session of the specific type.

40. Method according to claim 29, wherein the message sent to the user equipment is an error message of Session Initiation Protocol, SIP.

41. Method according to claim 29, wherein the user equipment, after receipt of the message informing the user equipment that the identifier is an identifier for initiating a session of the specific type, establishes a session of the specific type using Circuit Switched (CS) domain.

42. Method according to claim 29, wherein when detecting that the identifier is no identifier for initiating a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, the session is processed as a session different from a session of the specific type.

43. System for processing a session setup procedure initiated by an user equipment for establishing a session of a specific type to a called entity, comprising a network entity including, or being adapted to access, a database comprising location information and associated identifiers representing requests for sessions of a specific type, wherein a session setup request sent to the network entity for establishing the requested session, includes location information and an identifier for identifying the called entity, the network entity being adapted to access the database using the location information and associated identifiers, and to proceed, when detecting that the identifier represents a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, with the session set-up in a manner appropriate for a session of the specific type, by sending a message to the user equipment for informing the user equipment that the identifier is an identifier for initiating a session of the specific type.

44. System according to claim 43, wherein the database contains an emergency table.

45. System according to claim 43, wherein the session of the specific type is an emergency session.

System according to claim 43, comprising a home network of the user equipment and a visited network visited by the user equipment, wherein the user equipment is attachable to the visited network, and the network entity including or accessing the database is part of the home network of the user equipment.

47. System according to claim 43, wherein the network entity is a Call State Control Function (CSCF), preferably a Proxy Call State Control Function (P-CSCF).

48. System according to claim 43, wherein the location information includes a mobile country code (MCC), and/or a mobile network code (MNC).

System according to claim 43, wherein the network entity is adapted to modify, when detecting that the identifier is an identifier for initiating a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, the session set-up request and to continue the session setup as a session of the specific type.

System according to claim 43, wherein the network entity is adapted to continue, when detecting that the identifier is no identifier for initiating a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, with the session set-up for establishing a session different from a session of the specific type.

51. System according to claim 43, wherein the location information informs about the location of the user equipment.

52. System according to claim 43, wherein the user equipment is adapted to send the session setup request.

53. System according to claim 43, wherein the message sent to the user equipment is an error message of Session Initiation Protocol, SIP.

54. System according to claim 43, wherein the user equipment, after receipt of the message informing the user equipment that the identifier is an identifier for initiating a session of the specific type, is adapted to establish a session of the specific type using Circuit Switched (CS) domain.

55. A network entity, comprising a database storing a list of location information and associated identifiers representing requests for establishing sessions of a specific type in an area represented by the location information.

56. A network entity of claim 55, being implemented as a CSCF, preferably a P-CSCF, of a home network of a user equipment.
