Abstract

A multi-series battery control system comprises a unit battery cell of which unit consists of multiple battery cells, control IC comprising a control IC chip containing a control circuit for controlling the unit battery cell and a cell monitor IC chip for monitoring the voltage of the unit battery cell, and main controller that sends and receives signal to/from the control IC via insulation of which cell monitor IC chip and control IC chip are paired to control the unit battery cell.

Claims

1. A multi-series battery control system comprising a unit battery cell of which unit consists of multiple battery cells, control IC comprising a control IC chip containing a control circuit for controlling the unit battery cell and a cell monitor IC chip for monitoring the voltage of the unit battery cell, and main controller that sends and receives signal to/from the control IC via insulation;

of which cell monitor IC chip and control IC chip are paired to control the unit battery cell.

A multi-series battery control system according to claim 1, wherein the control IC chip sends the voltage of each battery cell constituting the unit battery cell to the main controller, receives a command sent from the main controller, and adjusts the voltage of each battery cell constituting the unit battery cell.

A multi-series battery control system according to claim 1, wherein the highest cell monitor IC chip is woken up by the first signal outputted from the main controller via the first insulation and then each lower cell monitor IC chip is woken up one after another by the first signal sent from a cell monitor IC chip higher than the cell monitor IC chip, and the highest control IC chip is woken up by the second signal outputted from the main controller via the second insulation and then each lower control IC chip is woken up one after another by the second signal sent from a control IC chip higher than the control IC chip

4. A multi-series battery control system according to claims 1, wherein the insulation between the main controller and highest control IC chip and that between the main controller and lowest control IC chip are high-speed insulation means that is driven by supplied power.

A multi-series battery control system according to claim 3, wherein the highest cell monitor IC chip is woken up by the first signal outputted from the main controller and, after the highest cell monitor IC chip has been woken up, each lower cell monitor IC chip is woken up one after another by the first signal sent from a cell monitor IC chip higher than the cell monitor IC chip, and then the lowest cell monitor IC chip is woken up;

and

the power supplied from the unit battery cell connected with the highest cell monitor IC chip is supplied to the high-speed insulation means so that the high-speed insulation means becomes conductive;

the highest control IC chip is woken up by the second signal outputted from the main controller and, after the highest control IC chip has been woken up, each lower control IC chip is woken up one after another by the second signal sent from a control IC chip higher than the control IC chip, and then the lowest control IC chip is woken up.

6. A multi-series battery control system according to claim 3, wherein the lowest cell monitor IC chip returns the same signal as the first signal sent from a cell monitor IC chip higher than the cell monitor IC chip to the main controller via the insulation.

7. A multi-series battery control system according to claim 3, wherein the lowest control IC chip returns the same signal as the second signal sent from a control IC chip higher than the control IC chip to the main controller via the insulation.

8. A multi-series battery control system according to any one of claim 1, wherein the cell monitor IC chips and control IC chips are all provided with terminals supplying the power supplied from the unit battery cells connected with the cell monitor IC chips and control IC chips to the outside.
